John, Grace Under Pressure was also the only time that I saw them back in 84 and Subdivisions is also one of my very favorites. Who opened for them, do you remember? When I saw them it was Gary Moore who had just come out with the album , Shapes of Things, if I'm remembering correctly. I still have it in cassette even though I don't have a cassette player anymore. Haha. Sometimes it seems like yesterday and sometimes it seems like another lifetime...
I had the chance to see Rush on their "Signals" tour in Chicago in 1983. Was my very first concert and amazing experience. As others have stated, Peart was a genius both in terms of being a percussionist (note I did not use the word "drummer") and a lyricist. He was a very quiet and introverted man, but the depth of his soul was heard in his on-going penchant for learning and lyrics. He and Rush were WAY ahead of time and in many ways still have not been matched, imho. Truly a loss for the music world and fans. Wishing his family, Geddy & Alex peace and comfort during this difficult time. RIP
