Hi I'm new here and just recently acquired a book from ebay possibly with Nelson Mandela's signature in it signed with felt tip marker. It's called Madiba: Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela A Celebration. It's a look through of his life and the inscription inside says it was presented during a De Beers golf tournament in 1999 to support his Children's fund. However I couldn't find much about this book or the event online. I also read here that ebay and abebooks has sold forged books before. I was wondering if any of you could help me authenticate this or who I should go to. I'm willing to spend some on appraising it. Just don't know where to start. Let me know if i need more pics or info.

Thanks for your time!

I don't see a sig pic at abebooks?

Abe books is fine but it is a group of independent sellers. Those sellers can make mistakes and their signed books need to be verified just like anyone else's.

Good to know. Thanks for the feedback Joe!

Yes, I’ve seen several fake Madonnas on Abebooks.

That book source has some great deals, and also some incredibly overpriced material! I have been looking for years at my areas of interest.

Eric there is NO image on abebooks. Do you think I should contact the seller and try to get a pic?

True.  I’ve gotten a few really good deals on Abebooks.

OK I understand now GC. I did make the mistake of buying a sig w/o a COA. I think I'll stick with COA ones or at least a dated autograph if I get a Mandela one.

PM me. My book is for sale if you are looking for one. F

No, you don’t have to relist it yourself on eBay.  You just file a claim and eBay will review it.  I don’t think you’d have any problem getting your money back.
