"How would SWAU get their hands on all of these similar forgeries, which would be the only way to tell if they are live ink, as they mentioned"
People are sending in stuff all the time, no? My .02. All I saw was a notice that SWAU reserves the right to update their Database, which is welcome and unusual for these places.
Probably not useful to speculate on SWAU. As you say "...Anything is possible..." but some of those motivations/notions seem rather unlikely IMO,
Oh wow. It's funny that all this time I've only thought of SWAU as a private signing provider and had no clue they authenticated items outside of being witnessed. I believe their extreme pricing turned me away from all aspects of their business? Lol I learned something today thanks for correcting me Eric.. I was very thrown when I read about updating their database and it should have tipped me off to look into them further.. I have never relied on authentication services when purchasing an autograph on the secondary market which I guess has kept me out of the loop of them joining the ranks of being a TPA.
Yes probably not useful to speculate and accuse them of marketing gimmicks but I will carry on with an open mind and always be suspicious of everything.
I still have a lot of questions about how these autographs were created and how new signatures will be authenticated going forward. if one of these 3 McCartney's are real, will it now be tainted forever by TPA's? Mixed in a database with others deemed as copies?
Hi Jason, as you know, I don't deal with any of these places. That was just my old understanding re SWAU. From the current website they indeed provide a wide array of verification, authentication, grading and appraisal services. LOA's too for $50, signed by Pete.
