I've seen several, possibly authentic, borderline Macca signatures being discussed lately. I find this pursuit of authenticity an interesting aspect of the hobby. So much depends on accuracy.
Here are two examples of Paul McCartney signatures I have owned in the past. Both were originally obtained from reliable sources. Roger Epperson approved one and disapproved the other.
Would like members to give their opinion, if you will. Are both authentic? If only one, which one? Or are both questionable, at best?

I only know the blue is a 100 percent real. It was signed at 5 am at a private event with paul. I'm sure he signed a bunch that night but no clue who or where they are.the event started at 2 am ran till around 6 am. Paul got there around 4 am.open bar food and band
..another example of an awful, atypical rushed signature.... but it is genuine, I got it myself in the late 80’s I think after a Buddy Holly event in London.... just showing for educational purposes
I think it's conceivable it's real. The P & L look like McCartney's, straight on the left and convex on the right. There are things I don't recall ever seeing before that look uncharacteristic.
With a lot of today's autographs, the source figures into the evaluation. A person known to be highly reliable carries more weight towards authentic than the average joe. Autographs from someone who often carries questionable ones make you suspicious.

...thought people may be interested in these Macca’s that i got myself in London in 1988. Both so different but signed on the same day just a few minutes apart. He first signed a book for me as he came out of the event- a Buddy Holly function. I was one of the first few he signed for but there were a great many people there, with some pushing and shoving. A few minutes later I thought I’d have another go and had just some paper at hand... he was still signing and I put it in front of him. i still remember he looked at me as if knowing he had signed for me already, and that I being cheeky..but he signed nontheless (the scrappy autograph with a sharpie). I was a lot younger then ... in my teens ! He always seems to look you in the eye before signing , amd seems very aware of who he’s signing for..generally. Anyway, the main point is to highlight the huge variations in the in person signatures, even when signed on the same day.
Thanks for sharing your experience and signatures. It is amazing the difference in the two signatures gotten in the same day. I can see how hard it would be to verify the one signed with the Sharpie.
Sometimes our familiarity with a signature can work against us. And sometimes a signature is so rushed and sloppy that it cannot be properly authenticated.
The upside is you have two autographs plus the bonus of actually being there. Most collectors never have such an opportunity.
I'm on racc with my real name .its all out there for all to see. And I'm not really a dealer as I dont make my living from selling autographs and anyone who buys anything from me I tell them up front my name. It's no biggie when I joined this site I wasn't really selling much if any thing just sharing some knowledge.
