Pixilated photo??
Hello,
I purchased this autographed photo on eBay of Tom Holland. It is authenticated with JSA. When I ordered it I asked the seller if the photo was pixilated he said it was not and looks great. Well the photo is pixelated and I was just wondering what I should say to him. He also forgot to tell me that he wrote on the back of the photo. Not an autograph he wrote Tom Holland I guess Incase he forgot he met Spider-Man idk.I was also wonder if you thought the autograph was legit. I have enclosed photographs.

I can see why you’d be unhappy with the pixilated photo. It seems like kind of a strange photo to get an autograph on. Regarding the autograph, while I don’t know his autograph at all, I just don’t know how autographs like this one can legitimately be authenticated. I mean...anybody can drawn a couple of lines on a picture and say it’s legit. My guess is that a big JSA client sent this in with many other items, and JSA just passed it for their important customer. If you or I sent it in, it probably wouldn’t pass.

The guy that I bought it from said he got it at the airport at a certain time in a certain place and it all checked out with where he lives aand he has a bunch of things signed by him. So I think I believe him. Plus the JSA I’m just upset that he wrote on the back of it in sharpie I’m afraid it will bleed through. As well as being pixelated. I just don’t know what to say to him

The photo is a ncie photo it just looked weird at the angle I took it. It’s just a little pixelated. I just don’t know what to do.

Depending on the price, if you believe its authentic, Id be happy with it if I were you. The last image you posted of it looks fine. As far as the sharpie on back - its a non-factor in my mind.
Now, if you paid a premium cost or average even, you have a right to be unhappy with the pixelation - especially since you asked before buying.
It really comes down to what you paid and your own tolerance for imperfections.

With shipping I paid $83 he usually goes for $100-$120. The signature definitely looks like his signature from what I’ve seen but I’m not an expert. Would you be able to look at a few and tell me what you think authenticity wise? The sellers name is rain-mcca on ebay.

Based on the sigs being offered on Ebay, I would return it. As someone mentioned above, the “autograph” you have could have been scribbled by anyone. Does he sign like that sometimes? Maybe. Does he sign nicer and fuller sometimes - it would appear that way based on the variety of offerings on Ebay.
My intitial comment was based on the perceived flaws you mentioned. But now that I have looked at the quality of the sig and the many styles out there, I would use the imperfections as a proper excuse to return this item that would be impossible to prove authentic.
You only have to satisfy yourself in the end. But the sig style you have could be very easily forged with minimal effort.

This image is of such poor quality this is a problem item, signature aside, IMO. Unlicensed copy prints made from degraded second/third generation images are to be avoided - they have no inherent value. A © still with studio name and credits would have an independent quality and value.

Yeah the picture definitely is not as ncie as it should be. I’m still torn about the signature though it definitely looks like his signature, his story seems legit, and it’s authenticed with JSA I’m just torn because it seems like such a simple autograph to forge.

Is there some reason to settle in quality? Good price is not lasting. That fades, but bad photo quality/sigs remain. The JSA means nothing to me. The "story" proves nothing. Any info can be retro-engineered. If you had to resell no one will care about the "story" - just the photo quality and hopefully something besides a shiny sticker. I would keep looking.

Just my opinion here, but this is an example of something you should avoid. If the seller was trustworthy and you had no intention of reselling (and you were 100% sure you had the real deal), then it's up to you whether it's personally worth keeping. But it sounds like this seller really isn't a straight shooter, and I think it's fair to then question the quality of his collection. JSA rubber stamped it, and that's hardly uncommon for them these days. The sticker still means something to certain collectors, but it does feel like their overall reputation has been on the decline the past several years.
Just my two cents. It's up to you what you want to do with it.
