Back in the day, I saw the Prince theatrical opus "Purple Rain" three times in the theaters, but I had not seen the movie in about 32 years before paying to download it last night.

But I still didn't catch it until I once again watched the music video of my favorite Prince song "When Doves Cry". In the music video, there is a scene from the movie "Purple Rain" where Prince drives his motorcycle through an underpass. As he comes out of the underpass, you can see graffiti on the walls. On the left, you can see the word "Love" spray painted on one wall, and then to the right, on the opposite wall, you can see the word "God" spray painted.

Of course, we've seen now that the phrase "Love God" was probably Prince's most well-known and favorite inscription he wrote with autographs. He obviously purposely had those words spray painted on two sides of that underpass for the movie.

I had never ever noticed that before or paid attention to it. When I realized it my reaction was OMG! I thought that was pretty cool. And obviously I think it was something Prince felt strongly about.

I just thought I'd pass my revelation along to other Prince fans who may never have noticed this. Maybe you did, but I never had.

There's a pic below.

Was prince saying love god, like Bob marley would write Rasta fari and sign or was he implying he was a sex machine? (A love god)
Ha, ha. That's funny. Maybe. Or was he saying "Love God - (who is I) Prince"? But really I think it was because he had a strong belief.
It's on his purple tambourines he used at concerts.
Oh, nice. Thanks, I did not know that. I wish I had seen him in concert.
Some of the stories ive heard about prince, crack me up.
He challenged Michael jackson at ping pong and called Jacko, Hellen keller.
Then at Princes concert, Jackson was there and Prince was playing slap bass in jacko's face.

Not to mention Prince had doves inside paisley park.

Prince autograph authentication is so important right now I've set up a forum category for them:

http://live.autographmagazine.com/forum/categories/prince-autograph...

There are 3 featured discussions:

  1. One for authenticity opinions, where most should go first.
  2. One for those that are widely believed to be genuine.
  3. One for questionable ones.

Please add autographs you posted in other Prince discussions into the appropriate new discussion. That way we can build up a database of organized examples to make avoiding forgeries easier for everyone.

Thanks

Great idea, Steve!
