I’m interested in the Joan Crawford photos that are currently listed on the RR Auction site, but I had a concern... These photos have all been listed and sold at RR fairly frequently over the past year and a half.

That photo where she’s smiling directly into the camera originally sold in their December 2016 auction, then it sold again in the October 2017 auction, and again as recently as their February 2018 auction.

They’ve deleted it from their past auctions, but you can still see it if you go to the icollector site and look up RR’s past auctions (or do a search for Joan Crawford past auctions)

It’s not like it’s four different autographs of the same photo.. it’s the exact same photo with the same inscription. And it’s not like it went unsold three times so they’re relisting a fourth time, I remember being interested and seeing it sell in the past. Should I be concerned that it might be a facsimile that they have an inventory on? Or what’s going on here?

some itiems have a hidden reserve so they might not have sold that's one posibility

the other isd the source has invenmtory not uncoomon

Ah thanks guys, that eases my reservations about these photos. Though I’ve bought from RR at least a dozen times and I’ve never been notified that my highest bid didn’t meet a reserve so I’m hoping that if I do end up going for these everything goes smoothly.

You wouldn't be notified. The house was bidding against you. It looks like it sells to the public eye. Sometimes it may be because a winning bidder did not pay as well although I don't think that would happen multiple times on the same signed photo.

If ur the highest bid and there' no reserve u will .Most items don't. But one clue look at starting prices and estimates. If it starts at 200 and estimates at 2500 to 3500 then I get the idea.

This is common at RR. They have hidden reserves. It appears the item sold when it actually did not.
