Hi everyone,

I recently bought this Ray Charles autograph at a UK auction, and was just wondering if anybody might be able to help me figure out if it is authentic? I know Ray Charles' unguided signatures are hard to find, and this signature is cut from a 1963 edition of Pop Weekly magazine. If this is real, it would probably have been signed on either his '63 or '64 tours of Britain. I have seen the Ray Charles signature study post on here, and some look quite similar to this to my eye, but I'm not an expert on Charles by any means!

Any help is very much appreciated, and thanks so much for taking the time to read this.

It does not have genuine Ray Charles characteristics in my opinion. I hope you can get a refund. Most obvious is that the text slants strongly right, whereas Ray's generally slants left except sometimes for the A and R in Charles. But the shape of every character in yours is different than of these.

RR Auction has sold more genuine Ray Charles autographs than anyone else in recent years, including one I had that I sold in 2018. Here's a link to their Ray Charles sold page.

Here's mine (yet again) to illustrate Steve's points:
