Here's a signed poster that I'm sure most of you guys have already seen.It was sold on rr a while back and more recently on iconic. The first picture is of the piece in its original untouched condition.the second picture is of the same piece with major restoration work to it.The owner was asking me if I was Interested in buying it.With that kind of work done to a piece such as this, should I totally pass on it.How much can this effect the value?

Since the repairs and restorations don't appear to involve the autographs, I think it's OK to consider a piece like that. Just don't pay near the price it would be if it looked like it does and wasn't restored.

Also, keep in mind that the repairs may be more pronounced in person.

Thanks for the fast reply Steve. Its actually a mystery.I looked on iconic past auctions and this one sold at 11,500 and change 3 yrs ago.Now this seller which I don't know,is offering it to me in this restored fashion for 5300 pounds.Im sure I could get him down to 5000 pounds.Thats like 7k or so.Thats the mystery,I'm sure a resto to this extreme cost a bundle, how can he serve it up for such a loss?

maybe its some money laundering scheme

Those Iconic Auctions "Sold" Prices are fake!  They list items with super high hidden reserves and when they don't sell they go back on Press Pass Collectibles eBay store only to be relisted in future auctions (although the website says that they have sold). Nice racket they've got going! They've 'sold' the same Pink Floyd signed Apples and Oranges 45 at least 6 times over the last two years.

this is very common for third tear auction houses although it is often illegal according to what state they are in (hello Mastronet). You see it less at the top tears like Sotheby, christies, Heritage, Bonhams and so on (but don't assume from this that these top tears don't have other ways to get you)

I like the poster tatty in the unrestored condition, considering it wasn't that bad to begin with why have it restored. My grunge posters have holes in them from hanging on the wall for years and that's the way I've left them.

There is to much being restored when there is no need to be.

What are they asking for the piece and who restored it?

I have no idea who restored it,I can nab it for around 7k or so.
Jared if you can also chime in,I'd like to know your take on it being you have seen this go through your auction house and have seen it in person.

They have taken the doodle of johns face, you can see where they have attached paper to the poster, at least they haven't touch the signatures.

7k would be top dollar in my opinion.

Like Steve said,it looks like a good resto in the picture ,but it can look different in person. You can still actually see a line coming off the corner of Johns left eye.
Paul if you look at the dedication ,it is dedicated "to Paul"
