Rock and Roll Collection Concerns [Title revised by moderator]

I see this site brought up a lot on this site for autograph references.

http://www.rockandrollcollection.com/

problem is, who ever this Stephan is he has a load of forgeries up here too. I get messages from people from time to time saying he has offered to sell a member here an item or two and it is never the real stuff imo, it is usually the fake stuff. Greed. He wants money but doesn't want to part with the good stuff.

Eagles are his most famous work. Attached is a screen shot of his fake work (not limited too). Notice how they are the same..... duh. If you look through his stuff he has loads of fake Zeppelin, Beatles, Springsteen, Stones, Floyd and more. Even the so called authentic Traveling Wilbury's is not real. Maybe the George and Petty are ok but 100% not the Lynne and I'm pretty sure the Dylan is bogus also. Anyway, I don't wish to debat about this guy and his ethics but if you are using him a reference be careful and I wouldn't buy anything from the guy either.

I've made some comparison images of Don Henley autographs on www.rockandrollcollection.com

There were 14 autographs of the type that Mike T and a few others of us are concerned about that were large and clear enough to use in the comparison. There were 45 autographs that are not of that type that were large and clear enough to use. There are 80+ Henley autographs in total on the site and there's a chance I missed a few.

I compiled the autographs in 3 large images, 1400 pixels wide, so be sure to enlarge them, at least for a good look at the smaller autographs. Each image has the same 14 suspect autographs in the odd rows so you can compare them with the 45 other ones over the three images.

There's a fourth, smaller comparison image with four autographs that have a number of the characteristics of the ones I'm concerned about but not enough to put in that category.

Here they are, in four replies:

The even rows are the ones I'm not sure about.

Nothing I'm aware of at this time. The discussion is surprisingly quiet. No discussion at all on the Henley comparisons posted.

Hey Steve

How long would you feel is appropriate before re messaging Stephen on this subject?  He told me he would get back to me 20 days ago but with the holidays and him trying to update his site ect. Want to find the right balance between giving him enough time and not letting to much pass if that makes sense.

Hi Steven,

I would message him back whenever you want to.

Last I heard from Roger, he felt that all of Stephen's Eagles autographs that he had seen were genuine. That was two weeks+ ago. Based on some of the Don Henley autographs alone (I haven't seriously studied the other names), this is one of the rare times that I disagree with him.

That said, I have nowhere near the knowledge Roger has on Eagles autographs.

I have to reply to Stephen´s article in Queen section:
"The following story has been mocked and heckled and has even put into print that “there is no way it could be true”, and “if it sounds too good to be true…” and other groundless allegations and insinuations that it could never have happened."

I was the one who wrote somewhere in the discussion "if it sounds too good to be true..." - that´s why I need to react to this.

I have never doubted that Stephen met Brian and Roger exactly as he described. I have never doubted that Stephen asked Brian about chances to obtain Freddie´s autographs. So actually I have never doubted the "story" part of these items. I just said that the story has no relevance to authenticity of the items (which is doubtful in case of those three FM items as was mentined here and honestly there is absolutely NO DOUBT that added fully signed promo picture which arrived in the parcel with rest of the items is fanclub fake). Main issue is Stephen completely ignored the reasons I mentioned here when I said that the story seems too good to be true. Freddie was at the final stages of his fight with his illness. Isnt is quite understandable that he Brian would simply got back to England and said to someone in his crew to finish it off instead of bothering Freddie with such a useless problem (as signing autographs for dying man obviously is)? There was no bad intention towards Stephen in that action - they send him obvious secretarial fake promopicture and someone in crew signed the pictures instead of Freddie.... It´s the same as the reason why QIFC was sending fake autographs to his fans - in 80s or early 90s, there was almost no way how to verify authenticity of received items - so fans were happy and band wasnt flooded by requests - win/win scenario. Also no disrespect towards Stephen now, but please keep on mind Brian´s priorities..... who was more important for him? Couple of fans who he met somewhere or his dying band colleague and friend? That´s why I said that this story is "too good to be true" - it´s quite understandable and obvious they didnt want to bother seriously sick Freddie with such a useless unimportant thing as autographs are - and found other solution to making fan happy... Brian and Roger lied for years about Freddie´s condition to protect him, this can be easily included as part of it! And by the way - it´s not groundless - the promopicture with blue ballpoint signatures is 100% fake and the rest is.... quite suspicious! There must be thousands of people who have fake fanclub autographs who live in honest confidence that their items are authentic, but they are not...

I fully agree. But this time it was not the fan club... it was someone much closer to Freddie who did those signatures...
That's true. Fran, are you a member of my Queen autograph group on facebook? We just discussed this
No I'm not. But 2 friends of mine are, and they ask me sometimes about things posted on facebook... Maybe your group, as they talk about Calò and his opinions. I don't have facebook myself. I used to but it was boring and I've never written again since then...
