Backstory:

My husband used to collect old baseball cards. We would typically buy from a local dealer or at some shows.  However, about 20-25 years ago there was a guy having a yard sale, selling the contents of his recently deceased uncle. We stopped by, bought a cardboard box full of baseball cards and various memorabilia,  didn't really go through the box until we got home.

There were a couple signed balls of players we didn't recognize, but at the bottom of the box there was a ball in a case, ball wrapped in tissue paper, when we opened it, we found an old Brooklyn dodgers ball with autographs of babe ruth and Lou gehrig.

We did take it to a local event that JSA was at, paid for authentication but they were unable to authenticate on site,  didn't deny or confirm.

I would like to send to PSA, but also don't want to waste anymore money. Google recommended this forum for opinions, so here I am.

Details: it does appear on the seam of the ball there is handwritten numbers and letters, looks like maybe JT755a, cant really make out the last letter.

These are very bad forgeries — perhaps someone trying their hand at forging

But wouldn't JSA have shot it down immediately,  rather than saying it was inconclusive?

Most likely the person there didn’t have the knowledge to give an accurate answer.

Definitely forgeries
