Hi all, I'm a new user, amazed to have found a site like this. Thank you all for what you do here!

I was recently sold two sets of Trek Skybox auto cards, Shatner and Nimoy. The first set (forgive the bad scan) had two big problems. The Shatner had a nasty scratch on the back, and the Nimoy did NOT have the Skybox Seal embossed into it at all. I thought that odd, could it be a mark of a possible fake? Are there reports of fake Skybox trek auto cards at all? Or reports of cards with no seals?

So I asked for a refund. Seller was willing to do so, but then offered two more cards, the Nimoy definitely now with the embossed seal, as you can see in the second scan. The problem with this one is, part of the autograph on the left side runs off the card, even though it's a good looking autograph. Does this seriously detract from the cards value? And do these second pair of auto's look authentic?

Thank you for your assistance.

All signatures shown are genuine.  Those Skybox issues were iron clad for authenticity.  Condition always matters, of course.  The cards look from the scans as if they have some soft corners.  I have not found collectors to be very particular about the signature running off the edge of the card, however.  With those I have seen graded, or sent in myself for grading, the grader only focuses merely on ink quality when assigning a grade rather than placement. Hope this helps.

Thank you, Charlie! Do you know why the first Nimoy card might not of had an embossed seal? Did Skybox release auto cards that way at all?

That would just be a factory anomaly.  Conversely, you'll come across a few cards from the series with the embossed stamp, but no signature!
