I have been collecting Star Wars autographs since 1998. Not all of my signatures are on Star Wars memorabilia. For example, when I met Warwick Davis at a comic convention in New York City, I had him sign a Willow photograph. I also have publicity photos of Sir Alec Guinness and Christopher Lee from the 1970s, and a Natalie Portman signed The Diary of Anne Frank theater poster from her performance on Broadway back in 1998. My current wish list includes Peter Cushing, Terence Stamp and John Williams. I am interested in knowing about the collections and wish lists of other members.

People asked for an autograph and he signed them. My thoughts are that he had better things to do instead of watching ebay or auction sales of his signed memorabilia.
I think it's very believable that he expected to be signing for fans, not dealers.
I agree that he probably didn't spend much time thinking about it one way or another. But, you'd think after a while he'd realize that it was the same faces hitting him up time after time at the airport... and it wasn't likely they were just "fans."
To a degree, I can agree with that statement, but some of the exact same faces are always there as fans with new images, new size photos, posters, action figures, etc.
Yoda is such a small part of his career......plenty of stuff I still need him on.
He started inscribing everything in 1997 with the crush of the Special Editions graphers coming out of the woodwork, and kept the rule he set back then.
I can't speak for him, but it would not shock me to find out he hadn't given the whole process a second thought...since then.
We autograph collectors aren't normal people. Every once in awhile we should stop and try to remember what a non-collector thinks like.
Again, I am guessing that the collector who told him to "just sign, we will erase the inscription anyway", probably brought that fact to his attention more than anything else in his everyday life.
Hamill usually personalizes when it's in person. Just fyi
Yes...used to be a few people getting him...
You have to understand that over 20 people shows up to the airport to get his graph. I'm sure you can understand his frustration right now. He has no clue who is a real fan and who is a worker.
Of course....seen many Hamill. Just never heard about him being adamant due to the fact that people want to sell his signature.
As for the other....I can see how frustrating it must be for some of these guys....and by the way, Frank Oz must fly much more than the average Star Wars celebrity (I'm sure you can help me out on that, Andy).
My point is that it sucks for everyone to get punished because of a few knuckle heads. I also know that's why insurance premiums go up regularly. The difference is that we get excited about the prospect of getting a new autograph (even if it costs us). I've rarely sold insurance to someone who was excited about it.....
I received this message late last night from K9, and you will want to read it.....
" So I just got back from an airport hit on Frank Oz... Great opportunity, just 6 of us, low key, controlled... A place I've been getting him at for many years, with no issues... One of us approach initially, and he gave us the "I'm not signing"... he tried to talk him into it, saying there's just 6, we are all good people, fans... He went on to tell us: I'm sorry, but I cannot differentiate who the fans are from the dealers so I'm not signing... He also told us that someone he trusts very much, showed him what is going on, and it now looks like he may be ruined for good.. Never thought the day would come...If i have an item for you of his, reach out to me, b/c I will most likely be returning it to you... A sad, sad day... "
Sorry.....somehow my mouse dropping on the floor seems to have deleted my post about this.
I have copied it from rebelscum again here.
