“Tay & Jay Cards” on Etsy is a complete and utter fraud.

I have been collecting sports cards as long as anyone, but, admittedly, I know very little about cards that have been autographed. Seems to me that you can either get a pre-authenticated insert card, or purchase one that has been authenticated. I chose a little of both. When looking for some autographed cards to buy, I checked out ETSY and came across a seller who goes by “Tay & Jay Cards,” ostensibly out of Waterloo, Iowa. He does not give out his name under any circumstances (1st red flag) and goes by the name “qkwjj0i6” (another red flag). A cursory inspection of his reviews reveals what many might take as a reputable seller. If you inspect his negative reviews (and there are hundreds) a clearer picture is revealed. Clearly, this seller likes the wife, girlfriend, sister or mother who knows nothing about autographed cards. He counts on these people because they know nothing about autographed cards and will most likely never return to his site again. Of course, a $14 autographed card signed by Michael Jordan, Derek Jeter, or Tom Brady is too good to be true? Right? But when someone like me, who doesn’t know anything autographed cards, sees something cheap, we assume the price is low because there is no COA accompanying the card. At least, that’s how I use to think. So I decided I would purchase some cards from this seller, with the plan of having them authenticated by Beckett or JSA. I figured - again, a bone-headed assumption - that if I paid little for the card and shelled out a nominal fee for authentication, then I got an authenticated auto card for a good price. Boy, was I wrong! Imagine my surprise when Beckett and JSA said the autos were fake. Now what? I contacted “Tay & Jay” with this information, sent copies of the authentication results, and asked to return the items. Talk about an attitude! Wow! Luckily, I was able to exchange the bogus cards for some Panini Certs he also had for sale. I was not going to trash the guy. I just wanted to do exchange and that was it. I don’t know much about autographed cards, but I do know a con man when I hear from one, and I know that anger is often exhibited by a crook when they’re caught red-handed. In fact, the guy tried to make ME feel bad for having questioned the authenticity of his autographed cards and acted like he was bending over backwards by letting me exchange them for some of the Panini Certs he was selling. Whatever happened to standing behind what you sell? Seriously. I sell on eBay and have 100% positive feedback and am rated as a Top Seller, and would never even think of treating a buyer the way this guy treated me. I just want everyone to beware of this Etsy seller. Yes, I know. That’s what I get. I should have known better, and I’m sure some of you will let me that. If there’s any other information someone wants about this guy, just go to Etsy, search for a Brady, Manning, Jeter auto card, and this guy’s listing will come up. So far, he has not re-listed any of the items I returned to him, but I keep checking. I welcome all opinions. And, thanks to all of you for the education I’ve received since joining this platform.
