Sometimes, when no-one on the forum has an in-person example (or expertise on the subject) to compare with, you may need to do your own research.
My own instinct is to search Google Images for the autograph and check out the credentials of the owner/seller in question (always excluding eBay sellers ¨- rightly or wrongly!).
It's not fool-proof - obviously - but it should give you an idea, at least.
I can promise you that I’ve done just that. And I see a lot of positive traits in this one, but it always good to also get other knowledgable collectors opinions. Maybe they see or know things that I don’t.
And since this place atleast used to be full of members willing to help out other collectors I always look for help here. But unfortunally today this place is mostly about sharing info about where to buy $10 signed CDs, so help has become increasingly difficult to get.
Anyone here who can help, before this sell and I miss out? Would appreciate that greatly!
How much is it? That might give a clue to authenticity. If it’s cheap it’s more likely to be fake but if it’s super overpriced it could be fake too. If it’s priced right that’s a little more likely it’s good but these are just guesses.
That’s not necessary true. I’ve for example bought two 100% genuine Bob Dylan graphs for less than $150, a certified Harrison Ford/Indiana Jones for $70 and a Bruce Springsteen for $40 so bargains can be found.
So given this I always let the signature do the talking, hopefully some knowledgable member will help out.
@JMS1223
Please read my latest reply below. Sorry if my first reply to you came out wrong, that was never my intention! Appreciate greatly that you were trying to help my, thank you and take care!

Sorry that the members who took the time to respond are not the ones you prefer.
On occassion I have also been frustrated by the lack of feedback on an item I've posted, but the members who are here are not the problem. It's the ones who are not here who aren't in a position to give you free expert advice.
I know nothing about Tim Robbins' signature but I took a quick look on the internet and yours has a lot of similarities to those.
What have you found out in your research? Why don't you share that with us so we can all benefit. What elements of the signature concern you? What parts look good?
Have you considered paying for a Quick Opinion from an authentication company?
On a separate note, one of my pet peeves is people who just come to this site for free authentication on things they want to buy. ;)
The people who post about upcoming releases of books or music are at least sharing information that might benefit other members.
It was never my intention to make it sound like I was ungrateful to the ones who did respond. English isn’t my first language, so sometimes I can sound a bit harsh even if I don’t mean to!
But when reading my response again, especially the last paragraph, to JMS I can see that it could be interpreted like criticism, something it wasn’t meant to! Sorry for that! I am very thankful that he tried to help me, but I didn’t fully agree with him based on my own 20 years of experience collecting graphs. I don’t put much value on price, COAs and TPA opinions, it is the graph itself that should be judged, nothing else. That was the point I was trying to make!
As I wrote in an earlier reply, I have compared this to many genuine graphs and it has many similarities. But there is always members who know stuff I don’t, that’s why I often ask here too.
To pay for a quick opinion from for example Beckett is IMO a total waste of money, since that is a crap shot at best. To use Roger Epperson for music or SWAU for Star Wars is another thing, since they are very knowledgable!
Finally, I must say that I find it somewhat ironic that you try to explain for me how I should behave when you then end your reply by jumping to conclusions about me that you know nothing about =
”On a separate note, one of my pet peeves is people who just come to this site for free authentication on things they want to buy.”
Because I’ve been a member of this site for longer that most people and I’ve for sure got A LOT of help here. But I have also helped a lot of people with whatever I can, I have exposed several forgers and got them kicked out from sale sites and I have even help members in lawsuits they’ve have been dragged into when they have tried to fight the dark side of this hobby. So I would appreciate if you don’t put a label on me that is far from being true, especially when you have opinions about how I behave. Thank you!
Yes, I honestly prefered how this site used to be in the beginning of my time as a member. Then it was 100% about helping each other, showing our graphs and comment on other members great ones and exposing forgers! I feel that side now get pushed away by all the ”$10 signed CDs” threads, but if that is what most members wants then that is how it should be! That is not up to me to decide!
Where do all the greats that dont like $10 signed cds go? Who is John Galt?
Lol
I think its as simple as people having their own fish to fry.
You were really on a roll and making lots of sense until you attacked me. :))
If you read my response carefully I did not attack you personally. You were giving your pet peeves about the site and I gave mine. I purposely did not direct that at you personally since I don't know your whole history here, only the tone of your first few posts on this thread.
I took the time to go out on the Internet to look for other examples to try to help you. I definitely won't make that mistake again!
Okay, that wasn’t so easy to understand since everything else you wrote was directed at me.
And at least to me, this whole part below seemed to imply that the only thing I used this site for was free opinions and that I did nothing that benefited other members:
””What have you found out in your research? Why don't you share that with us so we can all benefit. What elements of the signature concern you? What parts look good?

I know you wrote ”on s separate note”, but given what you wrote before and after, it didn’t seem so ”separate”…
But I guess I was wrong. Either way, I’ll close this thread now since it unfortunally has turned into a shitstorm…
