Starting to see a disturbing trend in this hobby. We have TPAs working “exclusively” with certain auction houses. While Heritage for example Accepts from PSA, JSA, BAS, etc. Houses like Rockhurst and Retailer Mill Creek Sports seem to be in bed with Steve Grad and Beckett. R&R with Epperson and Real!, etc. I see less diversity and multiple COAs and more single-sourced from the same TPA who clearly is getting paid to authenticate hundreds upon hundreds of pieces. I wonder if this is affecting the integrity of what’s being placed in the market?

No matter the source one should rely on one's own skill base and knowledge, any papers or not.
Agreed but for the purpose of resell, PSA, BAS bring incredible premiums and are essentially required to get maximum investment potential.
I never needed any of that. YMMV. PSA/DNA would still be passing forgeries of Gleason were it not for my work with them.
That’s excellent, but it’s an anomaly. It’s not the standard experience for buyers and resellers.
I once purchased a signed rarity for $50 on eBay and sold it relatively quickly for $2250 when I listed it. I didn't have it TPA'd. I've occasionally wondered what it may have achieved if I had.
I once bought a photo for 10 cents and had it sold for $300 and published with credit to me in a well received book in under a week.
I congratulate you Eddy. In the last month I turned $50 into $250o with a single artifact.
And plenty of people have purchased $2500 of autographs only to learn they were holding $50 worth of good forgeries. It’s not all roses.
I would also imagine that plenty of people have been told by a TPA that they were holding $50 worth of good forgeries when they’re actually holding $2,500 worth of autographs.
