Hi guys....have a few things that I'd love some urgent assistance on. Have the oppurtunity to obtain two autographs. First off, I know what everyone is thinking.....no chance those two guys graphs can be real. I've compared them to multiple authentic autos and am having a real hard time deciding whether I think they're genuine or not. Obviously, my gut reaction is no. But I can't quite be sure. I'm submitted photos to both didtheysignit.com and AMA Autograph Authetication and both came back "likely genuine". That being said, the Morrison photo was submitted to Roger Epperson and he said "although it was a good effort (Morrison) his expert opinion was that it was not authentic". I understand that Roger is the best but am weighing multiple different opinions since I've had more people suggest they are authentic than I have had suggest they are not.

PLEASE HELP! ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

It's hard to tell for sure, but what looks most unusual to me about the Morrison signature are the openings at the top of each "o." All of the authentic examples I've seen are either closed at the top, or have a much smaller space. Two instances of this is in one signature seems pretty unlikely. Also, it appears as though the writing may have stopped and then continued in a few places. I would lean towards agreeing with Roger. It's a good try, but it doesn't look quite right to me either.
Sorry Scott - two thumbs down.

The Doors are my all-time favorite band. I've acquired all their autographs over the years, and have seen hundreds of Morrisons.

In my opinion, the Morrison is not good. And, a few things to keep in mind -- Morrison is an easy forge.

I give the person credit, for doing it on the paper, instead of trying to slap it on an album or whatever.

Both autographs have the same problem for me. They look too good. And that's not a good thing. By that I mean, they are exactly the styles of those artist signatures, but too neat. Morrison often signed his name, in that style -- but you'd swear a 7th grader wrote it (and those are the real ones). The ones in this style, that look this good -- look like adults signed it, in Morrison signatures.

Now, that we've all given you the bad news (or ... good news ... since you didn't make the purchase yet) -- please let us know if it's a dealer. If it's a person -- we don't care. If it's an autograph place, would be nice to know.

Oh, one more thing. Even if it is a private party selling them, what is their story? Stories should check out

Dear Scott.

Please be always careful with both of those names as they are maybe one of the most often forged autographs. I would highly recommend to go for dedicated Jimi Hendrix autographs possibly with somethin like "Stay Groovy" or similar or only decide for items with a excact and good provenance.

Morrison is exceptional scarce as well but you could find sometimes counter signed checks which I would recommend also as investment. Richard Davie just sold a nice example with an uncommon full first name counter signature on a check which was nice but please be exceptional careful on signed album pages particul from not trustful sources.

kind regards

Markus

Those are fake....the J in Jim Morrison is not good. the hendrix looks really fake  just like the E one I posted a few days ago.. that was completely shot dsown and rightfully so....who is selling this? the hendrix is on the same kind of paper and written in the same pencil as the one I posted..i wonder if this is the same forger who sold me the hendrix ....Id like to get a hold of that guy. How much is he asking for this hendrix|?
I am in agreement with others, do not buy these. You may want to check if the ink is dry.

The Hendrix is in pencil.

R&R has a lot this month with two signed Morrison poetry books that have solid provenance and classic autographs to compare with: http://rrauction.com/bidtracker_detail.cfm?in=844

It seems strange that they are both on the same exact type of paper.

Here's a good example for comparison purposes. It's from a copy of "The New Creatures" sold through Sotheby's, and is the closest match I could find. To me, it has a much more natural appearance than the signature in question, which looks careful and deliberate. I'm surprised that the signature in question was deemed "likely genuine" by two different companies.

Oops. It was actually Christie's, and not Sotheby's.
I really want a Morrison autograph and could kick myself for not buying one while they were still reasonable. The days of the $700.00 endorsed check are gone. Boo hoo

I have never seen this Jimi Hendrix autograph in my life so how could I DidTheySignIt ever say that I believed this to be authentic. Personally its miles off an authentic Hendrix autograph.

As to the Jim Morrison I said its likey genuine, items that do appear to look genuine do have to be sent in to myself for further tests before we issue any Certificates. If Roger doesn't believe it to be genuine I would take his word but for me to offer any offical paper work I would have to have this item in person and personally compare it to examples I have and do further checks.
