I have a few and that one looks off. His W is usually straighter and he seems to finish his name and surname more completely.

I agree. After the letters W and G, it appears that the writer was unsure about the proper path for the pen!

I just showed it to a friend of mine and he knows Gretzky pretty well.

He said,  John, I think there’s forms of autopen involved with his mail. Look at the “99”. Looks mechanical compared to the thousands of IP autos I have see. He never does that sort of loop back under the second 9 like that.

Without a doubt authentic.

Hopefully you’re kidding.

No Rick.  I am confident it is authentic.

Prashant, it looks close enough to a real Gretzky that I can see why you think it's real. PSA Autograph Facts has a ton of Gretzkys that you can compare this one against. If you do, let us know if you still feel this one is good.

Hi Steve!

I am still very certain this is a real signature of Wayne Gretzky.  The Z in Gretzky is more common than you think, via this signature.

Was wondering if this was obtained through the mail?

Yes, it was obtained through the mail.  He has been known to sign ttm on rare occasion.

He has so many different variations that it is very difficult to tell if it is his signature or the dreaded auto pen.  I have one I received years ago in the 90's which I know is real which looks nothing like the "newer" autographs of his.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.  Much appreciated.

Bill...there is no way this is autopen.

I am very confident it is real.

His autograph, I find so hard to evaluate sometimes. He must have 50 different types of signatures. Some are really sloppy. Like scribble. Some are really neat. His earlier ones, especially with the closed 9s, which I own a few, are much more legible.
