What about Global Authentics and their certificates of authenticity?

Hello ~

what about Global Authentics and their certificates of authenticity?

They say you can not trust them at all and that most of them are fakes.

But in the very beginning, the company was apparently very reputable and set very high standards for their certificates of authenticity.

I am interested in whether Mario Lemieux's autograph on this puck is authentic or not.

Thank you for any helpful answers and wish you a pleasant time and all the best.

I know what you are asking but I would never go near anything associated with them. YMMV.

What do you think about this signature just from first glance? Not a trick question... I do not know Marios signature at all but feel the way the loop starts back up is a tad lower than it should be with proper flow. Am I wrong? Just doesn't seem right to me.. I am not usually a fan of stops and restarts unless its a normal part of the signers style. This is one id stay away from if I was in the market for one but im definitely far from a Lemieux expert.  Im not even a novice.

For OP, GAI is a mixed bag.. some authentic signatures are authenticated by them but they are probably bad more often than not. Treat them as if they were never authenticated in the first place

Not an expert but the sig doesn't look good to me.  I've gotten Mario numerous times in person at sit downs and it doesn't resemble the ones he signed for me.  I'd pass on this one.

But the sticker isn't necessarily a death sentence. If you treat all of them as bad, you could miss out on some great deals. Im just saying look at the autograph and not the sticker. Something we all need to be doing regardless

But why should I buy a photo or puck or whatever with a sticker stuck on it that needs to be removed and will likely require me to say something other then "GAI" when asked about what was there? A good price? It hardly seems worth the effort. Yes, this sticker has been called a death sentence many times. Can you find a diamond in a trash heap? Sure. I'm just not doing the diving. I'd rather find my stuff raw and unmolested in the wild - the odds are better and there are no pesky stickers to pay for, deal with or remove etc. Also costs less time and money.

Who wants a seemingly good Bowie SP that has no history beyond papers from" Andy Peters" and being at his site? Not me. That could will hang forever.

As for this signature, to me it looks uncomfortable/messy, drawn/awkward, slow with stop and start, lack of fluidity, negative space shapes off, and a pen lift. Maybe more. I don't like it. Maybe other will.

PS - if Mario Lemieux's name were added to the thread title it would get more traction for this signature IMO.

Global never set high standards for their certs.  They jumped in the game trying to be another authenticator and quickly poured out thousands of authenticated forgeries.  I have only ever seen one authentic Mickey Mantle authenticated by them and a few signatures that had their sticker and then accompanied by a PSA or JSA cert.  They are a factory for fake crap.
