What are folk's opinions of Certified Authentication Service (CAS)?

I was wondering if you guys would generally consider them reliable and trustworthy (with the normal caveats that should apply to any tpa, whether PSA, JSA, or Beckett)?  Initially, they looked like another ACE or Global, but they list two prominant members of this community (Steve Zarelli and Herman Darvick) as authenticators), so I thought maybe they are legit.

they are not ACE or Global, as you mentioned. I believe they really do try to get it right.  My concern on the sports end (which Zarelli and Darvick are not involved with) is I have seen some really bad autographs that they passed as authentic.  But that is also the case with the other three.

I agree with Terrier.  Below is a link to a blog I posted on CAS where they screwed up on a few Derek Jeter forgeries.  That's one autograph, if you're an authenticator, that you should know.

good point Chris, as he is a high value autograph.  The one's I am referring to are Carl Yastrzemski. they passed some brutal forgeries as authentic, but so have PSA, JSA and Beckett. All of them get fooled by Yaz forgeries, but he is not considered a high price/high demand auto (except for me! LOL)

Good point also, Terrier.

I've been looking for a Yatz.  What are the keys to look for to avoid the forgeries in this signature?

Post examples that you are considering here and you should get opinions.

Here's one.  What do you think?
