Any thoughts on authenticity on this Beatles set signed in 1963. It is signed on a 4x6 card. And what would be a fair price?

Thank you all in advance.

We are. And now that I joined the community, I might even consider myself part of one of those "F"s. I know my wife already does. :-/

You're an A+Eff!

Woody's right! I trust me framer but other framers you don't know, most of my haul is packed away in a safe these days, I have copies framed on the wall, I feel better about them when I'm travelling and I don't wont the signatures lifting off, like Woody mentioned.

Do you have any photos of your restorations, Woody?

None of the pieces had to be restored, because after I had accidentally left ink behind, stuck to the glass of the old frame, I had the good sense to stop and pose, "this is way beyond me. let me get help before I ruin another one". These were old pictures, old ink, old frames, the framing done not too many years after the signatures were written. They looked like they went through some environmental changes also the many decades, ranging from moist to dry environs as there was evidence of damp storage, like a basement and storage in a dry, hot area too, as in old attics. There were moisture spots and wood erosion as well as dust shadows and heat stripes on frames that were overlain. But the materials looked great, the wooden frames bearing the brunt of less than ideal storage environments. I didn't want to risk the material picking up deteriorating effects from the mountings so I set about removing the pictures, and with that first botched removal quickly realized I needed an experienced hand.

But none of the pieces were restored or had to be restored, work I don't do anyway. The frame removal went so well that unless you saw them when framed, you'd never know that they were stored disadvantageously.

Paul, you are right on.

Bjarne,

I agree with the others, the signatures themselves look spot-on. If paper is missing from Paul's L, as Terrier thinks, then the set, if genuine and otherwise problem-free, would be worth a lot less than if it's there.

Is the top of the L missing, or is that from the store lighting or your flash?

Next: Make sure they're original, signed signatures. I wouldn't buy it without taking it out of the frame so you can see the back of the card to make sure the pen impressions make sense.

You also want to make sure it's not glued down, since that can dramatically hurt the value.

Keep in mind that while the frame, matting and attribution card look old, the original signed card could be removed and a fake placed into it.

You've always had to be really careful...but today you've gotta multiply that by 10 compared to years ago.

That could be a tear ,that's covering the L.

Thank you all for your help. I will take a closer look at the piece and see if there is Live inc and that it's not stuck to the glas. I will let you know when I have more information.

Good luck. I hope it checks out OK.
