I periodically find items I'd really like to own and I figure the rest of you do too.

This thread is dedicated to the items we wish we had and would like to share. They don't have to be the most expensive items, but things that have special meaning for some reason or catch our eyes.

Thanks to Mr Zipper for posting the first thread of this similar nature.

Just a note...

I would be very careful about blindly trusting these cut insert cards. They are not 100% safe. Richard Simon has exposed a number of them where the card company used a fake. There are also threads on Net54 detailing questionable ones.

not only that but in many cases, and Richard Simon has pointed this out, they will take a very valuable piece and cut it to fit into their card layout, thus rendering the autograph virtually worthless.

Precisely why I choose not to buy or support these cards. For some insane reason, they tend to go for more than the original document they were cut out of.

I don't understand that either. I've seen some which obviously came from a signed contract, those don't need to be cut up and gussied up. I always see signed checks which have cut (possibly folded?) to fit into smaller packaging for these companies. Then you've got authentication companies that take vintage items and affix a sticker to the front of them. I wonder how much respect these companies actually have for the integrity of the items they come in contact with.

I actually saw at a show that a guy got a vintage card signed by Ted Williams authenticated by JSA and JSA did NOT want to put the sticker on the item because the picture was on the cert. I never seen that happen but it did

I hate seeing these cards where they cut up game used jerseys and signatures.  It really gets me hot.  I'm a big history buff and its destroying histoy in my opinion.  but to each their own.  Im not saying I wouldnt love to have a cut auto of babe ruth or something, cause I would.  But I certainly dont support cutting historic things up to put into cards.

I would love to have a babe ruth ball either a single signed or a yankees team ball.  it would all be nice for me.

It must be profitable for them or they wouldn't do it. I'm not sure of the business philosophy which says a dinky little cut in a case is worth more than a signed contract or something similar. Those are the items which will stand the test of time, instead they're turned into something that fits into a pocket.

yeah, im sure its all about profit and not preservation.  The whole baseball card industry is like the lottery.  your paying way more than what a pack is worth hoping you will pull something valuable.  thats their way to make a card valuable.  its still need to have a piece, because a person like me would never be able to afford a real babe ruth or mickey mantle jersey or bat, so a piece is nice, but the fact that they destroy it sucks.

I would also like a John Dillinger signature.  Not sure how many if any are out there, but it would be cool.  Been to his boyhood home here not to far from indy.

Dillinger is RARE. Be prepared to pay over $10,000 for a cut...if you can find one.

Oh, darn it...you just missed one at Coach's Corner that went for $224..with a Christopher Morales COA. Or is that a COF: "Certificate of Fraud"?

LMAO!  Oh darn, that was a steal.

Yeah, $10k is out of my budget.

I just bought a guitar owned and played by Jimmy Page, all I need now is John Lennon's handwritten lyrics and thats me got the main items I've always wanted but even if I sell my house I won't be able to afford the Lyrics...
