Dylan, Morrison, Lennon, Charles Dickens...

Charles Dickens -YES

Dylan ,Morrison,Lennon - 100 years from now ????

I dont know how many people will remember them, maybe I'm wrong, I've been wrong before !

The American society worshiped the big band era musicians and band leaders of the 1930s and 1940s like Harry James,Duke Ellington,Tommy Dorsey,Count Basie,Woody Herman,Cab Calloway,Stan Kenton,Lionel Hampton, and many many more. And every person living in the USA at that era could name them all.......NOW go out and ask any Generation Z (someone born after generation Millennials) if they recognize any of the above named Big Band names and I guarantee you they cant name ONE !

And thats only 80 years that have passed !

So you still think Dylan,Morrison and the like will be remembered 100 years from now ????

Just my thoughts and life experiences....NOT to be taken too serious !

I see your point, but do not agree.   Once Rock N Roll came out in the 1950s, the younger generations only cared about that, and big band era was forgotten.   But with Rock fans, you have teenagers even today that are wearing Beatles shirts, and listen to their music.  I'm 41, and my music was the Grunge era, and still is my favorite.   But I also am a very big fan of Classic rock, as I know if it wasn't for those bands, my bands would'nt be around.  I also respect the hell out of the Crooners- Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Paul Anka, and the rest.   I wouldn't say I will listen to their stuff ever, but have a true respect for their work.  I would love a Sinatra autograph in my collection.

Rock fans I feel will always be around, and they will know of Beatles, Dylan, Who, Doors, Floyd, Led Zepp, & etc.   Even if it is a respect factor of knowing they influenced what music they are listening too.

Big band is a form of music that kind of ended, so I feel it is different.  You don't have people releasing Big Band music to the masses, but you do still have Rock bands making music.

Interesting point of view...I respect your opinion even if I disagree.

Try asking someone 20 yrs old who Dylan, the Who, the Doors, Floyd, Led Zepp, & etc.are and I will bet very few if any know who they are....Hey when Jay Leno did Jay walking half the people didnt know who the President or Vice President of the USA are...one question asked was : What was the Civil War fought over...the answers were hysterical...Go to youtube and type Jaywalking and see how ignorant most people today are Re/History or common sense knowledge.

Its too bad knowledge is wasted on the old !

Seen many Jaywalking skits, and Howard Stern has been doing the same skits for years..... Many ignorant people out there for sure.    But if you are going to bring up Jaywalking as the example, then NO ONE you mentioned such as Charles Dickens will be remembered.

There will always be ignorant people in the world, but a rock fan/ music fan, I feel will always now who the Beatles are.  It is nearly 60 years since they started, and their albums/ songs are still top sellers on streaming music services.   Yes, some are Old Time fans, but many of the streaming service purchases have to be coming from younger fans in their teens and 20s.

Friday 7/28 went for Blondie & Garbage.

Blondie were all great!! Debbie was a strict 1 per. Chris Stein & Clem Burke both signed 3 albums for me. Other Blondie member in current line up signed my copy of Pollinator.

Garbage showed up, all got off bus together right away. Only 2 of us waiting, Shirley Manson stiffed us walking the other way. Caught up to her, and she said no to signing for the 2 of us. Other 3 members Steve, Duke, and Butch signed a 12x18 photo of band, and a 10 inch album cover.

Overall real happy, just wish Shirley would have signed at least 1 per...

Made an offer for $100 on this 1997 Garland plate signed by the entire original lineup of Kiss and to my shock and surprise the seller actually accepted. There were 250 artist proves made on top of 1000 limited edition... this is a low number 19

Wow Brian!! Great deal !!!

This was a bit surreal and surprising - not known for being one of the easier autographs out there to get, Arcade Fire did an in-store signing at Chicago's Reckless Records. There was a line, but hardly a mob. And it seemed that with about 20 minutes left in the signing, no one was really left in line. Strange for a band of that magnitude, regardless of how difficult they are to get autographs from.

Absolutely awesome Rich.
And indeed really weird for such a big band.
How many copies did you get?
