Hey all. I sent my baseball to LTD enterprises to get signed by Yogi. I was happy with the service, and I got my ball back yesterday. When I opened the package I found my baseball in a condition other than how I sent it to them. I invested a lot in making sure the ball got there safe and paid $100 to ensure it would be signed.
Here is the "before" picture (before I sent it to them and it got signed)
After pictures:
The white discoloration and dings were not on the ball when I sent it to them. I am pretty disappointed, but I am not sure what to do.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike, the ball does not look as discolored in the original photos as it does in the photos with Yogi's signature on them. Sorry about the confusion. If you are mostly concerned about the dings and white patches I totally understand. I have a Reggie Jackson baseball that has some discoloration and spots as well. I agree with Rick though. Display it. You have some terrific signatures on that baseball. It's a great piece even with the imperfections.
Hey Mike...I am sorry you had a bad experience sending to LTD. The only thing I think that may have happened is yogi might have dropped the ball accidently...the last time I saw him he couldnt talk or walk and had a very shakey auto...It sucks that this has happened...but Zipper does make a good suggestion as if the discoloration does bother you to rub some clay or game used dirt to get the coloring back...Once again...not really sure... don't think they would rub it down for any reason...Once again I am sorry this has happened...but now that you do have Berra on there either just get the rest of the guys in person or just display with your other items and call it a day...very odd indeed...
I feel especially guilty as I am the one who recommended sending to Yogi. :-(
In any case, I think the sting of the minor ding will fade quickly and it won't bother you at all in the long run. You'll be more happy Yogi is on it. :-)
Please dont! It wasn't your fault at all. Accidents happen and it's just hard to not get mad at what happened, but Ill get over it haha.
Hopefully it all blends in. I dont mind the dings. just the white spot is p****** me off...I'll see if I can find some dirt or clay haha!
Or I may just send it out to get willie mccovey or Johnny Bench to sign over it. That would make me feel better. But then the whole risk comes back again...so I dont know yet haha.
Honestly Cee Gee's story would make the most sense. I bet it got dropped accidentally. I don't think it looks that bad, it wasn't a snow white ball to begin with. The sticker would piss me off though... Hopefully you can get that off without any left-over debris.
Well you do have the right to explain your case to Dale or whoever is over there handling this...You may be able to get a discount or something for the trouble...I doubt they would want any bad publicity over something like this...you should send the before and after pictures...like I said...I am almost certain that what ever happened to this ball was not something done intentionally...and if you sent it in the ball cube it would not have happened in shipping...I do remember you mentioning that the cube fit was a bit tight...so maybe upon taking it out and or putting it back in it got dinged...either way a polite email or phone call wouldn't hurt...I know for sure there is nothing worse then having a prized possession damaged in any way...I hope it works out what ever you do...I have used them a few times and had pretty good results...but always sent flat items...
yeah, dont get me wrong, they were great. Very helpful and kind. However, if they dropped/damaged a ball like this, the least they couldve done was say sorry or hope you understand etc and not just hope I dont care (or assume I dont!) I wouldve been content with that.
No harm to Yogi, I cant get mad if he dropped it. Im grateful he even signed it for me.
Im going to take off the sticker and put it on the receipt if it is still in-tact. Yogi signed the receipt too which was pretty neat.
I just hope that the ball getting damaged doesnt affect the looks of the piece (or the value!) too much as I hope when I pass away my kids will be able to sell it without a problem. I wanted to add to the appeal of the piece, not destroy it! haha. Thanks again guys.
those dings are not going to take away from a piece that has Berra Dimaggio and Berra on it amongst others...there not really bad in reality...
