YES - Did Bill Bruford Really Sign This Way?

This set of YES autographs sold at RR recently. You will notice that the signature "Cheep William" is attributed to Bill Bruford

I am curious to known if anyone is familiar with this idiosyncrasy on his part. Is it peculiar to a particular time?

Indeed.

According to the robots at Google, he is not known for this so I am hoping someone here might have the knowledge.
