Findbooks replied to Tom B's discussion Stephen King?
"An unquestionable FAKE i.m.o. Listen - don't try and skimp when it comes to Stephen King. There are many, many signed limited editions out there. They are expensive but you have the priceless satisfaction of knowing it's the real deal. Pay…"

Findbooks replied to Tom B's discussion Stephen King?
"It looks a bit shaky. A good try - I would not buy it, myself. Great thing about King is that there is at least 1000 ++ signed limited editions available for sale online at any given time so plenty of material available for you to make your own…"

"I've written to two online auction houses in the last six months concerning Beatles group autographs which seemed to me to be very obvious fakes (written in the same hand) and both items have been pulled. I am very far from being an expert (and…"

Findbooks replied to Findbooks's discussion George RR Martin
"Thanks JK. Wouldn't you know, within an hour of posting I received a reply from the website (perhaps George is a member of the forum, lol). So I can get very reasonably priced signed paperbacks but I did ask if they would be able to sell a…"

JK replied to Findbooks's discussion George RR Martin
"I just checked another autograph site and it seems he does have bookplates of his own if you send a SASE.  The wait can be a year or two, though."
Saturday
JK replied to Findbooks's discussion George RR Martin
"Why not send him a SASE, and include a bookplate to sign in case he doesn't maintain a supply of his own?   He probably gets lots of emails asking for free stuff. They possibly just ignore them. I got a TTM success from him earlier…"

Does anyone have an IP example that I can use to compare?I would like to get a bookplate. I looked at earlier threads and found a link to his own bookshop but I have emailed twice and received no reply - I am guessing the site is not being maintained.A few examples on ebay, many expensive, some slabbed but a lot of inconsistencies. I've never met him and never had any GoT books worth bothering about so I am a complete virgin where he is concerned.See More

Findbooks replied to David Smith's discussion Ronnie Kray is this real?
"Could he even write his name? I have never come across a book with his signature but I have seen a couple of Reggies. It definitely bears no resemblance to his "artworks" signatures.  I would stay clear myself but I wouldn't…"

Findbooks replied to Rich's discussion Non-Musician Signed Books and Merch
"I was so annoyed about this that I marched into my local branch and asked for a refund, I asked the assistant if she wanted to know why I wanted a refund and she smiled ever-so-sweetly and said "No". Furious, I summoned the…"

Findbooks replied to Justin B.'s discussion Quentin Tarantino Real Signature?
""Upstanding Member" of this or that organisation does not actually cut that much ice with me, Justin, and I would urge just a little bit caution about being over-impressed with letters after someone's name - if you are new to this…"

Findbooks replied to Steve Zarelli's discussion What's new in your collection?

Findbooks replied to Justin B.'s discussion Quentin Tarantino Real Signature?
"I don't want to speak for Justin but maybe he meant "trusted" source as opposed to "reliable". I have colleagues whom I "trust" in respect of signed books, e.g. That does not mean that I believe they are infallible…"

About Me

What kind of member are you? (Check as many as apply.)
Collector, Dealer, Other Professional
What would you like to tell us about yourself, your collecting, or business.
Collector and catalogue/internet bookseller since 1990. I chose to become interested in signed books from the beginning because very few others seemed to specialize in these at that time.

Although it is a fairly commonplace business model nowadays

With the very notable exceptions of Stephen King and Cormac McCarthy I believe I have personally obtained in-person autographs from the vast majority of the most prominent authors of the past 30 years including winners of the Nobel prize for literature. Many of these encounters have been the most fascinating or memorable experiences in my working life and I feel privileged to have had them.
