Findbooks replied to Mick Jones's discussion Fleetwood Mac - any good ????????????????
"But in my experience, knowing who you are buying from is just as important, if not more important, than what you are buying... . That makes no sense if you think about it. It implies that a "trusted source" can't be wrong or make a…"

Findbooks replied to Brandon's discussion Sean Connery signed "Best Wishes" Presidio Photo
"I have reservations about this one.  It looks very careful - note how the signature and greeting have been squeezed into the image - as though care was taken to avoid crossing into the margin. That's not his style. I have difficulty…"

Findbooks replied to HangingOnTheWall's discussion Signed Beatles photo
"What an absolute crock. Even as late as the 80's it took many hours (usually overnight) for a print to dry - in a heated cabinet. The idea that this fella rushed home, developed the photos and rushed back to the venue (how I'm reading it)…"

"Beware of signed pieces of paper with no provenance as this gives the scammer many tries to either trace, copy, or digitally add the signature. Not saying this was done in this case but I've seen it happen alot lately. "

Findbooks replied to Brandon's discussion Sean Connery Vintage Signature Authentic or not?
"Not sure what you mean by "vintage". You cannot judge the date of the autograph by the style/era of the image. He might have signed a still from Marnie the day before he passed away - that would not be a "vintage" autograph. This…"

About Me

What kind of member are you? (Check as many as apply.)
Collector, Dealer, Other Professional
What would you like to tell us about yourself, your collecting, or business.
Collector and catalogue/internet bookseller since 1990. I chose to become interested in signed books from the beginning because very few others seemed to specialize in these at that time.

Although it is a fairly commonplace business model nowadays

With the very notable exceptions of Stephen King and Cormac McCarthy I believe I have personally obtained in-person autographs from the vast majority of the most prominent authors of the past 30 years including winners of the Nobel prize for literature. Many of these encounters have been the most fascinating or memorable experiences in my working life and I feel privileged to have had them.
