Yes from me. A bit earlier. 11x14's were $1 if you sent in for one.
No kidding! 11x14's were $1!
Aren't over-sized portraits more valued than the standard 8"x10"?
Garrett
Yes, 5x7 were...quite different. ;)
Indeed, thc 11" x 14" matte finish double weight silver gelatin photograph is the top of the line. They are valued considerably more than 8" x 10"'s. Even better if it bears a photographers stamp or mark.
For what it's worth, I believe this is secretarial. Taylor was MGM's biggest male star at this time and his amount of fan mail was massive. Most of what is surviving attributed to him was done by talented MGM secretaries ... precisely rendered ... and in all sizes. I searched high and low for a fair while for an authentic younger image signed by him.
Hi Eddy,
I was going by the "wishes" in the inscription mostly. I will post what I saw at RR tonight or tomorrow.
I had no idea. There was a signed photo of a youngish Robert Taylor I should have bought several years ago that was authentic. What made it worthwhile was that he signed it "Bob Taylor," and it was to one of his close friends.
By the way, do you have an authentic Robert Taylor you wouldn't mind sharing with me so I can see what an authentic autograph of his looks like?
Looking again, I must agree. Rather good secretaries!
