thank you Steve i have done that now, hopefully i can get some advice as i realize this collection is far far beyond my talents and it would be best suited to a pro to go through.  i hope this forum will find the right person to take over for me and possibly work out a way for me to sell or auction it as a whole, i realize that i will not get nearly what it is worth this way but at least the history involved will be saved and the right people will have access to it all.. joed

All due respect, Joed...don't go crazy on this lot because there isn't really a huge amount of value in it, as far as I can see. Most signatories were important in their time, but have been trumped by Michael Jackson and Barack Yomama.   Would suggest you offer the archive as a whole, and don't spend too much more time on it unless some very obvious names jump out at you. Just my opinion...

well my list is so long that it will not allow me to post it all so i do not want to completely overwhelm the group with the lists i will ask if it is ok to post what i have been doing in researching each document and person who signed it... joed

Aloha- i have posted in the general area i guess and have been told to post in here by Steve and it took me awhile to navigate here, lol.  I am not very comp savvy.  I have a large collection of historical documents from the period of time between 1928 -38 or so.  They are a collection i grabbed from a dump run with my Sunday school teacher as a young man in Western N.Y.  I have come to realize that they are from the Honorable Bainbridge Colby and contain hundreds of personal and business letters and a large pile of signed/cosigned checks.  I am looking for guidence on how best to sell or auction off the collection as i am old and it would be a great resource for someone writing a book or a big interest in the similarities of this period of time and today which i found is staggering.  here is a partial list of documents i am trying to list and have placed each in a acetate bag to preserve.  I certainly hope you can see my other posts in the other area and please feel free to contact me with any advice.  Obviously with a huge collection like this i can not just post every document and check.  I see in auction sites the high value of individual signitures that I have many of each one, I am aware that the collection is massive and that I can not do it justice that is why i am thinking it would be best to sell it all at once and let a person with actual knowledge and experience deal with it all, please tell me what you think or contact me at home anytime.  primal@hawaiiantel.net or 808-895-9729  best regards joed

Partial list-

For astronauts I recommend Collectspace.com the only real space place!

Thanks, Richard. I have always enjoyed reading about these legendary figures, and now to be able to write to them and hear back from them.....WOW! What a treat!

Jeffrey, you can contact some of the current astronauts though NASA. Pat of what I collect are WW II autographs. Doolittle's Raiders (only five surviving now), Flying Tigers, X-15 pilots, etc. If any of these sound interesting, I may be able to help out. Most of what I have are older addresses so you should check to make sure they are still around first. Also, for Medal of Honor receipients contact them though the Congressional Medal of Honor Society.

Just got back my first ever historical autograph in the mail yesterday! I got a 5x7 personalized to me from John Glenn, the first American and 3rd person ever to orbit Earth. It is really neat to correspond to other people besides actors and athletes. I hope to continue to grow in this area, but don't where to look for addresses. Does anyone have any suggestions?
