Soldier in Afghanistan Needs Sports Authenticity Opinions

Soldier in Afghanistan Needs Sports Authenticity Opinions

A soldier in Afghanistan bought these sports autographs and would like to know what you think of them! Almost all have been authenticated, and I've either cropped the photos to remove the authentication stickers, or covered them.

Please only comment on authenticity when you feel confident in your opinion.

Thanks for helping one of our heroes in harm's way!

I took high resolution scans of three Mantles from AAFES that were sent to me, and sent crops of the signatures out to two friends who know their stuff. Both felt strongly they were forged, not any sort of autopen. Both thought the forger could have used a projection or lightbox...but not necessarily!

What a great education.

Now here's a piece of garbage Mickey Mantle/Joe DiMaggio autographed photo.  It is "authenticated" by AAU (Drew Max) who claims (as per his website) to be a "Forensic Document Examiner."

There wouldn't be bigger shots of those signatures, would there?

Looks like a closeup would show wavering and wobbly loops under those Ms.

Perhaps this forensic examiner does not consider things like speed and flow.

Maybe he doesn't. Here are a few high-resolution Mantles and a DiMaggio from AAFES. One each from Nick Burzyk, TTA and AAU/Drew Max. These are HUGE files, so you can see everything:

They should unite and form a new company - TSA

Three Stooges Authentication.

The third fake down with the light blue background... you can really see the slow chugging motion throughout the first M.

Really makes me wonder if it is tracing some sort of projection or they overlay something very fine and subtle onto the photo and write over it.

If you enlarge them you can see it on all 3, but most of all on the first M. Did you notice it on the J of Joe? and the wavering in the downstroke?

Yeah... the right side of the J is really bad.
