I'll vouch for Chris's integrity, James. He's probably outed more forgery sellers than anyone else in the world.

I'm still waiting for James to defend and explain the autographs he's sold to Ebay buyers.

Why would a millionaire go on Ebay and sell crap like that?  Can you explain that to us, James?

A few million doesn't go far these days, Chris. But why are you calling him a millionaire?

Comment by CJCollector on September 19, 2012 at 2:11pm

Steve, in Mr. McKnight's original thread, James posted a comment defending Ebay seller steelerfan78610.  Included in that comment James commented that Steelerfan78610 is a millionaire who  hangs out with athletes like Michael Jordan.

Unfortunately, that comment was deleted, but I certainly remember it.

To everyone posting in this blog:

We received the Site Issue email below from James that I felt I should make you aware of. I told James that the owner of eBay's steelerfan78610 would need to contact me directly to make his case.

I don't agree with James's legal positions in the email, so it's unlikely we'll do what he requests. But I thought you should know that legal action is being threatened:

James  reported the following issue on Autograph Magazine Live!

URL Reported: http://live.autographmagazine.com/profiles/blogs/how-is-ebay-user-s...

Issue:Fraud

Additional Information:Hey Steve cyrkin I just wanted to let you know that the blog by James McKnight how is steelerfan78610 allowed to sell on eBay!!!  is not only against the law but unlawful in everyway shape an forum What James McKnight  is doing here having this guys eBay linked you your site is wrong and it's fine to have your opinion and blog about it but it's a whole different matter when you start making claims about someone business and reputation as a power sell I have contacted him and let him know of this and he's asked me to tell you guys to please take this down and un link his personal eBay account from your site or he is going to take this to the next step!! Also this is againts eBay violations and you as the owner can be sued by eBay for having them linked to you account without consent!

Thanks and have a great day!

Oh, this is THAT James?

James, I appreciate your loyalty to Steelerfan78610, but he's making you look bad. Does hanging out out with Michael Jordan really mean the autographs he sells are good?

Maybe I'm missing something. I see Kobe Bryant at the Cheesecake Factory. It would be great to save on authentication fees.

Sounds like the grilled cheese and milk was a little much for him.

What a coherent letter he writes.

James: "I am not a lawyer but I play one on TV."

Comment by Richard S. Simon on September 19, 2012 at 3:15pm

James you should be aware that a lawsuit that a judge would determine to be frivolous and harassing would mean that YOU would be responsible for paying the legal fees of the person you sued and your lawyer would face sanctions. I know about lawsuits, having won all three I have been involved in. I cannot imagine any lawyer wanting to take on a case like this.

Except possibly in very rare situations, eBay isn't responsible...just like Craig's List isn't. eBay simply provides the venue. It's up to buyer to do his due diligence.

What about cases in which a seller of forgeries is in effect being promoted by eBay by having been given a status of "Top Rated Seller"? I realize that it's based upon user feedback, but Isn't eBay basically giving those sellers their stamp of approval? eBay states that those sellers are "the best" and will provide the buyer with "great service." If that isn't the case, shouldn't eBay share some responsibility?
