Joe Long was the most dangerous rock and roll forger from the 80s through the early 90s. Sotheby's, Cristie's and virtually all of the most reputable auction houses and rock dealers inadvertently sold Joe Long forgeries, especially Beatles.
Frank Caiazzo was one of the first to become convinced that Joe Long was forging Beatles autographs, in the early 1990s. Long was so trusted and entrenched in the rock autograph field that almost no one believed Frank at first. Ask Roger Epperson, and he'll tell you how hard it was for Caiazzo to convince him Long was forging...and Roger was one of the first to realize Caiazzo was right.
