Earlier this year I posted blogs on forged autographs on counterfeit Derek Jeter 1995 Upper Deck cards and forged autographs on counterfeit Sandy Koufax 2000 SP Authentic cards.
During that time I heard rumblings about other counterfeit sports cards with forged autographs but didn't follow-up on it.
Just recently though, by accident, I stumbled upon a Willie Mays autographed 2003 Topps Legends card on eBay.
My immediate observation of the card was that something didn't look right and I knew immediately it was a forgery.
So how does a forged Willie Mays find its way on a "2003 Topps Issued Autograph" card?
When the card is counterfeit.
Here's The Proof
First, immediately below is an authentic Willie Mays autograph on a genuine "2003 Topps Legends" card.
The autograph is authentic; now I want you to also observe in the lower right-hand corner the words "Certified Autograph Issue."
Unfortunately, PSA has both graded and certed some of these forged/counterfeit cards.
The one below was not certed by PSA, but they did grade a counterfeit card (the autograph is a forgery).
On the counterfeit cards, examine the word "Autograph" on the lower right of the card; if some of the letters are touching, that is confirmation it is a counterfeit card.
Another Willie Mays 2003 Forged Counterfeit card. This is one ugly forgery.
Here's a closer view of the bottom right where it reads "Certified Autograph Issue."
Observe the spacing, etc. All normal.
Here's other examples of the forged counterfeit version.

The back of the card. The moron person who counterfeits these cards always places the fake hologram crooked on the card.
Looks like it was penned by an idiot.
Confirmed counterfeit card.

Obvious forgery.
Observe the spacing and the butchering of the words "Certified Autograph Issue" produced by the counterfeiter.
Also look at the spacing of the six stars under the words "Certified Autograph Issue."
Bingo!!!
Here's another forged/counterfeit Willie Mays "2003 Topps Legends" card that PSA slabbed.
If you observe, they didn't cert the autograph, but they did slab the counterfeit card (they screwed up).
The autograph is also a poorly executed forgery penned by a moron.
All of the counterfeit cards (Derek Jeter 1995 Upper Deck, Sandy Koufax 2000 SP Authentic and now the Willie Mays 2003 Topps Legends) were also produced in a very amateurish fashion.
An amateur forger also penned the obvious forgeries.
Below is a side-by-side view of the counterfeit "2003 Topps Legends" card (the one on the left) and an original "2003 Topps Legends" card (the one on the right).
Another side-by-side view.
You can click on any image to get a closer view.
The "Certified Autograph Issue" on the left is the forged/counterfeit card.
The "Certified Autograph Issue" on the right is on an original "2003 Topps Legends" card.
The majority of Willie Mays "2003 Topps Legends" autograph cards on eBay, are the forged/counterfeit versions.
Immediately below are more examples of forged/counterfeit Willie Mays 2003 Topps Legends cards.
Even if you don't know autographs, the butchered "Certified Autograph Issue" confirms that these are counterfeit cards.

Ebay seller Daniecarchie-0 sold seven (7) of these forged/counterfeit Willie Mays 2003 Topps Legends cards between July 10, 2019 and Sept. 15, 2019.
Please note, that I took screenshots of every forged/counterfeit Willie Mays "2003 Topps Legends" card that I could find on eBay.
By the way, with the odds of pulling a "2003 Topps Legends" autograph card one (1) in every 1,500 packs, how does one seller have seven (at least seven) in their possession. Think about that.

Unfortunately, they "graded" a counterfeit card.
Below is a Boog Powell from the 2003 Topps Legends authentic autograph on an original Topps card.
Observe the "Certified Autograph Issue" on the second photo.
Please note that I will also be posting a blog on the forged/counterfeit Willie Mays "1996 Topps" autograph card. Example below.
Laughable forgery.

Please note:
That since Topps is still in the baseball card business, I will be sending them a link to this blog and make them aware of the forged/counterfeit versions that have been listed and sold on eBay.
If you are unaware of the forged/counterfeit Derek Jeter 1995 Upper Deck autograph card and Sandy Koufax forged/counterfeit 2000 SP Authentic autograph cards, you can Google Derek Jeter Forged Counterfeit and Sandy Koufax 2000 SP Authentic Forged Counterfeit.

Great job on this Chris. The constant them with these counterfeit cards is the lack of attention to detail, as evidenced by the shaky formation of the stars. With the Jeters, it was the jump letter.
I hope Topps takes notice of this.
Thank you, Terrier, and so do I.
Topps has to investigate this.
It seems they are getting better with cutting the cards as well.
So many scams to keep track of. Thanks for showing us another obvious fraud. It's finally been shown that Baseball cards are a billion $$$ fraud. They are all trimmed, colored and soaked in chemicals before they are put in their tombs and NOW they are counterfeited!! A very nice combo if you're a dip sh** with no other means to survive other than to shear good collectors like baby lambs.
DOPEY collectors are a BIG part of the problem as they can't or won't stop promoting and buying them because they are in LOVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEE.. Too dumb to comprehend in all honesty.
You got that right, Fudd!!!
I might sound kinda slow ...but...where does one acquire all of the fake foil markings to attach to the basic cards? I guess they just make them somehow, huh. Awesome post and entertaining thread to read.
Good questions, Doug. In the examples I've seen that Chris posted, the actual card is counterfeit too.
Foil stamping on card stock is a fairly simple process:
A number of these cards have recently resurfaced on eBay. Here are some links--can anyone tell me if any of these cards are genuine?

JJ, only one of those is authentic. Can you figure out which one it is?
Most of the pictures are very poor, but if I had to say which one is authentic I would say this one:
