MICKEY MANTLE AUTHENTIC EXEMPLARS... READ ALL ABOUT IT!

I just wanted to post these here to see what Fudd the Lowly Mantle Collector can do to help stop the flood of forgeries into the market place. The goal is that we can all start educating ourselves before we buy. To see what a beautiful signature the Mick had, and to learn to distinguish it from the obvious forgeries at first glance. Something TTA, STAT, DREW MAX, GAI GLOBAL (Baker certs) My Favorite Players Reborn (Tony Podsada) & Christopher Morales can't seem to do....at all? You will almost never see a signature in this photo album collection that would match or come close to anything that has been certed by any of those guys. Maybe you'll find 1 in a 1000 if you're lucky. To tell the difference between what an original hand signed Photo by the Mick looks like vs. an obvious Fake at first glance is easy. Give it a try. It's Fun!

As has been told many times, The Mick made more in one signing than his dad did in 1 year. He felt obligated to his fans to give them a "work of art". He did this by signing on just the right spot for the particular photograph he was presented. The size of his signature was determined by how big the sweet spot was. He knew EXACTLY how to fit his signature in so it looked perfect. A thing of beauty really. Please note that these are not all the same signature over and over, but merely a sample from my collection. What I do know is that these are consistent with the WAY Mantle signed and structured his Autograph as we know it. Good luck! FUDD

Comment by CEE GEE on October 20, 2011 at 5:54pm: Damn Zipp...that's a tuff one...things I like and don't like about this one...don't think Mickey would have clipped that line on the left like that at all...good and bad qualities about this one...I would hate to say its good when its not..so Iam going to say...I wouldn't buy it...based on the bad qualities...would love to hear other opinions on this one...

I don't like the slant of the "n" in Mantle, and the baseline is not consistent with his normal signature. And signing thru the line is an excellent point that I probably would have missed. I would say probably no.

Comment by CEE GEE on October 21, 2011 at 4:53am: Mantle was known for signing all items on the best surface location to give all fans there moneys worth...this litho was obviously made to be signed with that space on the bottom...but even with the good and bad qualities on this one in particular...based in the "M" clipping the pin stripe and the bad qualities of the auto now that I am seeing this on the computer opposed to my phone its clear in my opinion that its not good...but a better then usual fake I will add...definitely

Comment by Steve Zarelli on October 21, 2011 at 5:51am: I agree that it is highly suspect, that's why I posted it. It is likely a fairly deceptive fake... a cut above the usual tripe. It's important to not let the obvious mass-produced fakes lull us into thinking they are all like that.

Comment by Steve Zarelli on October 31, 2011 at 6:07am: Bats are really tough because, due to the surface and shape, they are usually signed slower and more carefully. This takes away some of the indicators such as speed and flow we use with surfaces he was more accustomed to - photos and balls.

That said, I don't see anything on this that jumps out at me that doesn't look right. Could be okay, but if I was spending my money on it, I'd want to see more of the little positive indicators I look for.
