Approximately 10 years ago I started planning for my wife's 40th brithday celebration.  I wanted something unique, so I thought I would try to obtain an autograph or two of her favorite celebrities.  I wrote a very personal letter and embedded our family picture within the letter.  I also requested that the celebrity "personalize" the autograph,  as I wanted to make sure they knew my intenstions were not to sell it.   I then signed up for one of those celebrity address sites and away I went.

I must say, I was shocked when I received her first autograph in the mail several weeks later, Lional Richie.  I'll never forget that firt one.  Then a week or so later I received a second and then a third.  I quickly became obsessed with the collecting aspect, primarily how nice these celebrities were.  I began to get letter's and short littel notes, some on "yellow stickies"occompanied with the autographs.  I knew I was onto something very big and exciting, and to think I had about 2 years before my wife would reach her 40th birthday.

Well, two years latter the big 40 hit and our kids and I presented her with three photo albums containing over 200+ autographs.  It also included charm brackletts from Crystal Gayle, a special birthday card from Victoria Principle and a personalized picture fram of Richard Steele (boxing referee) and all of his top fights prepared by a company he commissioned to do the work.  People who look at these albums do so in amazement, what a collection from Presidents, to sports hero's, film makers, movie producers, actors, actresses, writers, cartoonist and best of all her favorite John Travolta.

Ten years later a lot has changed, unfortunately my wife was diognased with breat cancer last August, she completes her last treatment in January.  During this time, our son (Marine) was fighting on the front lines in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Thankfully he returned home safely in February and will be a drill instructor in San Diego for the next 3 years.

So, I thought this worked pretty well the first time around, why not try it again at age 50.  She will be turing 50 on July 3, 2013 which gives me two years.  I am really excited to get back into collecting once again.  This women has endured a lot over the past couple of years and she deserves nothing but the best and the best she shall have.

My goal is to obtain the best site for celeberty address, so if you know of any I would welcome your suggestions.  I will also value and appreciate any tips that you might want to pass along.  I plan on keeping this blog going so that others can see my progress and to document my goal and achievements in collecting celebrity autographs for my wife over the next two years.

Thanks for your help, and here's looking at 50!
