John, does the date of 12/7/1991 and the L.A. Bonaventure Hotel with respect to your comment, "but there's no way they signed that much stuff" have any relevance or importance to you?
If it doesn't, then that portion (not the rest) of your above post is both misleading and inaccurate.
Look that date up in solo Eagles history please.
Cheers, Stephen
nope not what im talking about ,only me and one other collector there and im not saying who it was and where it was
I saw Henley at the Bonaventure Hotel. I believe it was around that time. He was signing copies of the Walden Woods book.
POSTED, THEN DELETED: Mike T. posted a cropped image of my Eagles page/website with that gold signed Hotel California Tour Book trying to boost his case that the program was previously part of my website.
(in his words) "he had archived the page" and wanted me to now explain the image.
He has since DELETED HIS POST and his false and cropped image at his attempt to "prove" his ..............whatever it is he is trying to prove.
Thus, my above reply which starts off, NICE CROP JOB....
Here are the "highly questionable" Henley graphs, only origin for this style is Mr. Duncan's collection. Compare these to authentic Henley's.
Here are some items SD has offered for sale, not included on his website:
Here is an authentic Eagles LP, feel free to compare the differences:
For fun, here are some of the Paul McCartney's SD got "in person":
Here is a compilation of Leonard Nimoy autographs SD claimed he got in person and at various sci-fi conventions:
Here is a screenshot of the website before these were taken down, although I'm sure I'll be accused of doctoring the image:
Here are authentic Nimoy signatures for easy comparison, you can see they are not even close.
And for extra fun, here is the Harrison Ford forgery on SD's American Graffiti laserdisc:
This was an "autograph" SD claimed he got in person, it is the most obvious of forgeries. Luckily the foremost expert on Harrison Ford signatures is a member here and can confirm (you can also ask literally any other harrison ford collector, its that bad.)
Here is the most interesting part, the following is a photo of Mr. Duncan with American Graffiti actress Mackenzie Phillips at a convention, holding the very same American Graffiti piece after getting her to sign it. This is concrete evidence in my opinion, that SD has no problem mixing authentic signatures and forgeries together on his items. If he will do that for American Graffiti, who knows what other items?
Do I really need to do this again? OK, let’s try this perhaps one last time………….
I do not feel the need to come back on to this website and defend my collection to anyone. I have thanked many of you who have sent me tremendous words of encouragement and the compliments you have expressed at my now over 35 year collection of in person signatures. Thank you all for seeing past those that get the enjoyment at attacking my collection.
For those that continue to rip it apart, it appears to me that you may be motivated and fueled by a source that cannot accept the fact that one collector can have so many signed items by a few of the hardest bands in all of R&R to collect from during a certain time period (prior to most on this website), so of course, whatever seemingly cannot be explained or believed must be fraudulent.
A few years ago I took some of the more productive advice by some of you and used it constructively to go page by page of my website and rebuild and reconstruct many of the pages and bring out the exact circumstances in which the signatures, as best after 30 years, can be remembered. In part…..
a) The purchasing of any Star Trek autographs and signatures from a vendor table at a trade show, though the vendor says was “in person”, cannot be called in person by myself. Okay, fair enough. Prior to two years ago I never really gave that logic much thought, but, as was pointed out in that previous thread made complete sense. Thus, that Star Trek page has been removed from my website for over 18 months now. Thank you for that clarification of "in person".
b) The Queen page needed to be better defined. Thus I revised the text to clearly say that the FM’s were sent via a Parcel Post from the UK. I stated to facts of how it was acquired and encourage the reader to draw their own conclusion. That page has been amended for over a year.
c) I also got rid of about several non R&R pages (the American Graffiti being one of them) as they were the source of endless “yes it is”/”no it isn’t” authenticity. Much more importantly was the hits on pages that from an internet watch were low, simply needed to go. The dead hits page drives traffic away from a website.
Added to the fact I need the website to get back to its R&R only displaying roots. Slowly perhaps and eventually, all non R&R pages will be eliminated from the site. It’s a R&R site, not movies or motion picture (eventually).
As far as selling of any of my items,………my reasoning is simple:
Obtaining of signatures currently and what seemingly is its future, appears to me to be the increase of autograph conventions and concert “meet and greet’s”. Free Signatures on the streets, especially here in Los Angeles is fading very, very fast. Almost, no longer worth the time it takes to wait. To attend these in person events is incredibly expensive. Thus, I made the decision about 4 years ago in order to both grow my collection and sustain its future, I would have to sell some inventory as to have the collection pay for itself. When deciding on what items to sell, yes, I much rather sell items that were signed upside down, sloppy, rushed, autographed in dark areas, etc…., in lieu of items signed in much better continuity and clarity. After all, I didn’t collect since 1986 and look back on this stuff 35 years later and not keep the best stuff for myself.
With that said, it’s these items that may not be the prime pieces that I do try and sell first, often at a discounted price. Some offers however have been so lucrative, that I have sold some very prime items (in other words, too good to pass up). Many other items within my collection I will not and have not sold, in spite of some very lavish offers ($2500.00+ for my Eagles The Long Run poster). Whatever I sell, my reasoning remains simple. I sell to clean out and flush out many extra items to then go out and obtain newer items and signatures I do not yet have.
If you do not like the style or are not comfortable with some of the handwriting that you find within some of the items in my collection, well, welcome to the world of collecting signatures on the streets. If I had a table and chair with me each time I asked Henley and Frey, or Springsteen for an autograph, would they have sat down at it anyways? The research and homework, or “evidence” that some of you have presented to discredit my collection is incomplete and again, goes back to opinions upon opinions, with not much proof of anything. Who amongst you have seeked out and researched with any of the Los Angeles street collectors who were in person collecting at the same time period that the bulk of my signatures were obtained? Do any of you even know they are? Or is it you might not like what you find out?
Moving on, I have posted just about all the inscribed signatures that these artists have signed for me to increase the credence of these authenticate signatures. If you are unable or unwilling to compare the signatures and draw the correct conclusion, then please compare the inscriptions (or is the advanced argument that the signature and the inscription are equally fake? That will be the next argument, I suppose).........
Those who stated that the authenticity companies “will never validate” my collection, too have been proved wrong. I have 77 different LOA’s, the bulk being the Eagles (26), Springsteen (15), Led Zeppelin (11), Beatles (10) and a few other bands. I have spent all I intend to spend on something I never needed to do in the first place. THANK YOU too, to several of you who have sent me their LOA’s from the purchases you bought from me, AND ALSO, many other LOA’s from items that were never mine that make for excellent comparables. Especially those LOA’s from purchases made directly from the Eagles camp. That dark signed guitar from Irving Azoff (you know who you are who sent it) is spot on excellent with the “D” in Don. It proves that Don signed in the same style as some of those "D"s that have been a concern. Cheers to each of you for taking time to email me.
Lastly, as far as forgeries, go look elsewhere for your fakes and fraudulent signatures. My website now and my entire collection has been updated and redesigned with the finest personal collection of real and authentic In Person obtained signatures from so many of the hardest celebrities within the industry to collect. The many personalization’s, photos with the artist, and stories of when the signature was obtained speak for itself. It’s a tremendous collection and can more than withstand the scrutiny and regurgitated attempts by those that want to try so hard to discredit it.
Meanwhile, looks like July and all through this summer should be good for obtaining autographs. I got several shows and meet and greets to attend. Cheers to those who email me in support. The rest of you who choose spend your time digging for fools gold, please keep digging. There's one born every minute..........
