We now have a Musician-Direct Autograph Sales Forum where you can post individual discussions of new offerings. It's a big change—and a big improvement. We closed this discussion after 8 years but it will always be available to read.

The new system has been in place for 2 months now and it's working well.

This video shows you how easy the new forum is to use.

You can follow the forum and be notified of new signings exclusively! And you can enter a musician's name in the forum's search box and find any discussions about them.

Be sure to click the Follow link at the bottom of the list of discussions.

Try it...I think you'll like it.

Though I recall a member posting a blog asking about this a while ago, I could not relocate it for my purpose in this discussion.

It can be nice when one stumbles upon a musician's shop (via their website), to see that they are selling their autographs. I figured this could grow as a wee database for listing those musicians who partake in this.

I recently recieved a couple press photos signed in ballpoint from John Mayall's website (http://www.johnmayall.com/merch.html). I am also aware that you can purchase signed CDs from Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits(http://peternoone.com/store/). John 5 ( formerly Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie guitarist) sells various items signed, with an option to dedicate.

So, does anyone else know of this being done by other musicians?

Get ready to cancel/return your Demi Lovato preorders. They've been outed as autopens over on RACC.

I'd get ready if I were allowed lol. Since they're orders from Demi's website, the only option you have is emailing her website, and they've yet to respond to an email I sent them three days ago asking to cancel.

I'm furious. I bought a couple of these in different formats and now I feel like I will not get any return on my investment. FFS.

Here's a little update after I sent them another email, this one a little more strongly worded.

Hi Derek,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and thank you for your patience. Please note that all autographed items in indeed hand-signed by Demi Lovato. We apologize for any confusion.

We are in the process of canceling your remaining orders; however, we can into a technical glitch. We will presume with canceling your remaining orders when the glitch is resolved.

In the meantime, please allow 3-10 business days for the complete transaction to appear on your bank statement! We will notify you when your last 2 orders are canceled. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Feel free to contact us with any additional questions or concerns.

Thank you for your patience and support,
Faylin + FH Customer Service

So I'm getting my money back. Eventually.

If you have any existing orders out, I suggest you cancel them now. I'm not leaping over myself to take this company's word for it.

I just received it and it looks legit.

Let's compare back to back -

The person on the RACC thread thought they'd ID'ed at least two autopen patterns. Honestly, that's all I needed to hear, because I was pretty sure that Demi wasn't signing tens of thousands of items at rock bottom prices.

Kudos to Lorde for doing what she did while other big names found an out.

Quick way to make a buck without putting in the work. Honestly I am not trying to be a jerk, but most of these pop stars are so manufactured that no one should be suprised that it isn't about their fans just the $$$.

They are adored by these young fans and LDR has them believing they are all real because she said so...

It was bad enough that Brian Wilson or his people pulled this crap with the books, but I chalk it up to the people really in charge in his case. Sad all around.

There are several of these on eBay. Shame to see folks mostly unknowingly buying and selling Autopens. This is a real problem. Hand-signed is hand-signed, and that is the term in that email response, but clearly these and the matching ebay examples are not.

Here is a visual - a 50% transparent overlay made from two of the ones just shown, adjusted for scale and angle.

If anyone wants to use this image for a refund knock yourselves out. I made it from material in this thread.

As a novice, what would be the explanation for the signature on the 3rd picture looking different than the first two....at least to my eye?
