I came across this little book published in 1942 which explains America's involvement in WWII. The inscription reads: "To Jillian Bussien" followed by a signature which I cannot make out.
It doesn't appear to be the editor's name, Harold Lee Hitchins, does anyone have any ideas?

could be an alfred possibly??

Alfred Leese perhaps.

how about Alfred Lesser ?  that would fit.  He would have obviously had interest in wanting to send a book like this to someone

Thanks Michelle and Scott. I think you're both right about the "Alfred". I also was thinking the first letter of the last name was an "L" but then what is that horizontal line that intersects with the vertical one? Maybe it's just a decorative flourish or maybe a "T"?
