Oy vey. Get over yourself, man.

I agree with Joe on trusting seamus on P Floyd authenticity. I would trust him over any tpa.  However, Mr Sloane is not known for reasonable pricing so I wonder why he priced it so reasonably.

OK Appleton, that's what I was thinking you meant.

I'm not going to say your wrong, but you are definitely not 100% correct

People who study certain celebs and know them very well can pick out certain traits a forger will miss. And most people here will not post specifics to look for because it's common knowledge that there are forger's reading on this site and trying to learn more.

Just the other day I picked out an Elvis forgery based on one single mistake. Overall it looked good but that one mistake clinched it as a forgry because Elvis NEVER writes this way.

Of course everyone will make mistakes and of course forger's are getting better. But to say it makes you cringe is a very naive comment. Specific traits is what a good authenticator looks for, especially when dealing with a good forgery or a very atypical signature.

Certain people on this forum I trust their judgement. You seem to have a very negative way of seeing things I have noticed in many of your replies and I'm starting to wonder about you as a member in good standing. You make me suspicious.

Here is another problem I see.  To be able to say that a person "never" writes a certain way, it has to be like night and day.  Not a subtle thing.

Here is an exercise for you.  Grab a few of your notebooks or paper pads with your handwriting on it.  Look through them and see how you shape your letter "s".  See how many different ways.  I bet every "s" looks different.  Then look at your letter "a".  Again, I bet they're all different in some way.  Now look at your number "2".  I bet sometimes you wrote it with a straight ending, and sometimes with a loop ending.  Depending on your mood that day.

My point is, to say officially that a person "never" writes a certain way, you would need to have far more handwriting examples than are available to the experts.  In my opinion, many thousands of pages.

I ask myself how an autograph can be authenticated without looking for typical traits and the absence of atypical features. There will always be exceptions of course and I personally like examples that have something a little different about them provided the overall feel is right. I don't think it is at all easy to forge that "overall feel".

I seem to have touched a nerve when I pointed out that there is plenty of motivation for a skilled forger to take a $5 Pink Floyd album, practice 4 scribbled sharpie signatures on it, make sure it's perfect, and then sell it for $5,000.  Two months of pay for most Americans.

Shocker!  Welcome to reality, goodcat.

You are proving to be an unworthy conversational opponent mr/mrs/ms Appleton

There is so much wrong with your reasoning skills that it would take me all night to address all your naive blunders.

You said it yourself that you only visit this site to view forgeries. I can only wonder why that is.

The nerve you touch leads to an unsavory opinion about you.

BTW.... I can define my own handwriting as authentic from every stage of my life. Some traits NEVER change...and that IS reality

I used to see the chap from Mr. Sloane a fair amount in London getting IP graphs.  (I'm not a seller at all, incidentally).  I'd be taken aback if many (if any) of his IP ones aren't legitimate.  I think he/they do buy in as well, where I guess anyone can make mistakes.  I'd put good money that he obtained the Floyd autographs here in person.  I haven't got any doubts that it's real.  With regards to the price, I think it is realistic, not low.

that's useful information Matt

thx

Thanks Matt. Some people are just too quick to judge here.

Thanks.  I've never heard any of you to claim to be anything that you are not either.  Though I think the opinions of many people here on judging whether an autograph is legitimate or not are rock solid.

Appleton is right that there are some truly talented forgers out there. One could sign Babe Ruths sig better than he could. 95 percent of those clowns can be exposed but forgery is an art that has fooled experts to this day.
