Hi all! Came across this personalized auto by John Wayne (I think?). Says "To Ida Good Luck ??? The Duke." Can't seem to figure out if JW actually signed this, as there's so few examples of him signing as "The Duke." Maybe a secretarial signed piece? Any thoughts? Thanks!

This is not a picture of John nor signed by him. John Wayne impersonator, perhaps?

Ok, I'm glad you said that, because I thought it was just me thinking it didn't look quite like JW! Didn't even know there were impersonators of him at that time (picture is from at least 40 years ago). Thanks!

Actually, the signature is someone else's name. Here is an example of John Wayne's genuine signature for your reference.

Yep, that makes sense now. I couldn't really read that line, but knowing it's an impersonator, I figured it's the real guy's name. At least he's honest (even if I can't read it now!)

The guy on the picture was Jerald -The Duke- Raymond Thomas. Born 1939 Died 1999. He was a ranch owner who walked and talked like John Wayne. He won a celebrity look alike contest in 1990. For your information N Smith.

Thanks, Karsten. I appreciate knowing the rest of the story.

Thanks for the wonderful info! Glad to get the whole story! (And I'm not surprised he won a look-alike contest) Thanks again!

Compare it to mine if u zoom in.  It was authenticated thtew Beckett
