Awhile back I purchased a Rolling Stones newspaper. It was OKed by Roger Epperson before I purchased it. I didn't see, nor can I now see, there was any problems with it. I matted the paper and eventually offered it for sale on eBay where it was pulled by them.

I have since found out that this item sold on eBay in the past without a problem.

Yesterday, I received information from a member on this site who noticed this in a previous discussion and was informed by them that this is a known forgery style.

To also be fair, I have seen an email where Roger Epperson again(today) responded this set of signatures looks fine. Also, I have in my possession a ticket to the event on the same date as the newspaper, attendance wristbands for the event, and photo of the event site and inside during the concert.

I simply would appreciate to figure out if these signatures are, indeed, genuine or do they appear suspect. I both love and dislike a challenge and this is one to me. Appreciate any and all thoughtful responses.

Thank-you.

Matt. I would be thrilled if you would consider starting a blog series here on the site. It doesn't have to be strictly autograph related. I'm sure members here would enjoy the opportunity to see other momentos or just behind the scenes experiences you have been a part of.

Writing a book is a solid idea and I would be the first in line to buy one(autographed by you of course!). I bet you have enough to write a series of books. There are millions of Stones fans who can't get enough.

Whatever you do, you are a valued member here and I hope you continue to share with us.

Thank-you!

This has got to be one of the most intriguing and (quite honestly) unbelievable chain of posts that I have seen during my relatively short association with AML.

Without naming certain names and pointing fingers, this is what clearly has emerged;

1. Joe W (who has definitely been stitched up) has been courteous, careful and polite in his exchanges from start to finish despite being "done over" on this newspaper fake, which I think he  went for because of verification from a renowned third party.

2. If I had sold this fake newspaper to Joe as a MEMBER of this site, I personally would not be sleeping because so many people spotted the fake, despite the 3rd party authentication (oh, and I am SO sorry to hear it has caused some other people on here "stress" - poor them...not as much stress has it has caused Joe W).

3. To fall back on the fact that, because this authenticator has not withdrawn their authenticity claim, it is therefore genuine, and no money is to be paid back by the seller to Joe W, is disgusting.

4. Matt Lee has come along, made his own evaluation and openly proven that he has probably one of the  biggest Stones "Museums" I have seen outside their long-term roadies and the band's own personal collection. He is therefore someone I would consider to be THE authority, just as Innuendo is on Queen. Again Matt has been measured, courteous and careful in his appraisal and BACKED up statements with proof of his own vast collection. Thanks to him for getting involved. It also proves unequivocally that the saying "nobody can have a large collection of one band's/individuals autographs" is complete and utter bullsh*t. I know many record company personnel with copious amounts of Floyd and Bowie signed material which are stockpiled for a rainy day.

Sorry, had to say it and I know a few members on here agree too! Do the right thing seller - MONEY BACK NOW!

No one but you and Joe W need know.

Great summary and inputs MarkG

And I really have no idea why Tiziano keeps pushing his moot point

This case has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt.... Fake

I agree.... MONEY BACK NOW!

MarkG, I appreciate the kind words regarding me and Queen thank you. Sorry to drag this thread back up but I was just speaking with a friend and she asked if I had kept up with this thread and i'm only just now tuning in to read. Still not completely finished reading but very interesting indeed. Thank you for the summary so far! I will say that years ago, I pointed out to a very respected third party authenticator that a Freddie signed letter he approved was not genuine and he did take the proper steps to refund the owner. It wasn't an easy discussion to post, but like Joe did here, it had to be done. Sounds like this may be another mistake by him and I hope things work out (if they havent already- still havent finished the thread). All the very best to Joe. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Goodcat... I know the seller of it because this seller sold to me an item .. A Jimmy page signature in a greetings card... This seller to buy and too much in uk auctions and ebay... And then sell the items here and on rrauction... I seen many of his item... But many of these are poor... I only buy from it a jimmy page greetings cards... The signatures of stones was offered to me before of Joe W....

What's your point?

I give up on trying to comprehend you

I'm going for a donut

OK Tiz, let's go a bit further

If you know who the seller is, then maybe you can tell him to give JoeW a refund

BTW.... that Cream set is authentic.... ur welcome

Tiziano and goodcat. I ask both of you to refrain from taking this discussion to a possibly harmful level. This has been a useful discussion without name calling. Myself and the seller are working things out. Allow us to do so in a private manner. Please stop before someone goes a step too far. In all due respect. Thank-you.

OK Joe

Good luck

Thanks goodcat for the Cream.

Goodcat for me is fake... Stop! And i don't umderstand Roger Epperson .... Stop! Tiziano is now a Back Door Man. Thanks!

Nice name change Tiziano. Good Morrison association. I like it!
