Hey guys,

I saw this signature and I would hear your opinion. It looks fine to me, but I've never seen that Elvis' wrote a letter "K" like this (in word "Kris"). What do you think about this one?? Thanks.

Hi Don

I'm trying to send you a pm about this sig but its not going thru

Can you try and pm me?

I'm only going to speak to the ink since the rest is subjective to each individual

At first I see several good traits and can see why it could be seen as authentic

Whoever did this has been doing some serious practice

Is it too smooth?
Yes it's a bit on the smooth side

Is it a forgery?

IMO, Yes it is

And IMO opinion it's done by that German forger.

Why do I say this?

Because he almost got it right but once again has made a crucial error that I still to this day have NOT seen Elvis do in his signature. One thing in particular gives this German dbag away on a continual basis.

Out of curiosity, I would be interested in hearing Roger Epperson's opinion

I am speechless. Every opinion is welcome here. And every opinion opens new horizons. But to attack members personal is not fair. I for myself want and like to hear other opinions. But no attacks. And by the way, don‘t forget the Autograph. Thats the reason why we are all here.

Just because someone's a member doesn't mean they're ethical and honest.

We can't fully screen most members in advance and out of 12,000 members there are probably 100 or more who are part of the forgeries industry, trying to discredit us or threaten members into not talking about them anymore and removing negative things about them. I

In fact, I let some in because I think it's valuable and educational when they try to defend their positions or threaten members. And just as important, it helps collectors learn that they have to follow safe buying practices with everyone.

But the vast majority, probably 98%-99%, are good, honest people.

It was my fault in this discussion to mention ethics without clarifying things. Good, honest people can take unethical actions because they don't realize it. It's extremely important in autograph collecting to consider the field beyond yourself. Take actions that are for the good of the community, not just you.

I'm working on catching up today after being mostly away handling a family concern since Tuesday. I'll be around a lot more now and will try to watch things closer.

It's time to bring in more moderators, too. I try to keep a light touch on the site because we have a lot of great members here and I don't see much that needs my intervention. But it's not right for the community to have to wait for me to handle difficult issues that the members can't solve on their own.

We do a lot of good here. That's why the forgery industry wants us weakened or gone. Let's remember that. Thank you all for being an important part of what we do.

I'd like to hear more opinions on this signature

+1

So I sent the image to a highly respected international auction house.

I've found their handling of Elvis autographs etc. to be first rate.

While no one person or business is 100 per cent perfect I trust their evaluation.

The response was positive. But they added they would like to go a step further.

An in-house examination of the signature would cement things either way.

So not a flat out "no" but neither a resounding "yes".

I made no mention of a COA.

Their response was based solely on the signature.

Two steps forward  & one step back?

That's great Don and thx

At least we're making some progress and focusing on the ink now

Hopefully they can answer the question I had that I mentioned in my pm to you. To me its an important focal point.... right or wrong

I encourage everyone to find 10-20 reliable exemplars and compare characteristics to this one. RR sells more Elvis than anyone and has hundreds of them.

Grab the first 20 or so, compare their characteristics with each other, take the ones with similar characteristics and compare this one to those.

BTW, I followed the link to this on eBay and saw that it ended unsold with a $499 minimum bid and no bids. That alone says volumes.

Agreed Steve on both accounts

Especially no sale at $499

I was wondering if it sold or not

I'm still going to keep comparing but so far my opinion remains fake

If real, it's a great flip for easy profits and it should have sold

OK

So I took your advice Steve and looked at 20 examples from RR Auctions and NOT ONE signature has the formation that the OP one does.

I have ONLY seen this specific formation in the German forger's items.

So I still say this sucka is FAKE

8F8D1CDF-879D-4819-B9DC-C17FE0C3A426.jpeg   Well if it is fake, then someone tried obvioulsy to imitate/fake this one. What is your opinion?
