Iconic Auctions offering David Gilmour *COPIED* Signature - BAS Authenticated

Would like to expose another Gilmour autograph, this time coming from our friends at Iconic Auction. Currently listed is a cassette 'signed' by David Gilmour of Pink Floyd.

Problem is that the signature matches identically to a cut offered on this site a few years ago that was previously certed by PSA. After examining the cassette, there are some oddities in ink which make me believe that the signature from Iconic is a copy from the original offered here. You be the judge.

Yet again, another BAS blunder - in my opinion of course.

excellent work Eric

and I agree with Rick as well

Thanks Shawn - wish I had better pics! But it shows well enough I think.

I did exactly this and got the same result, alignment doesn't match exactly but writing does. I also attributed this to the angle of which the photos had been taken.

I am sorry to hear about the purchase Alexander and I hope you are able to get a fair refund. Please let me or this forum know if you have any questions regarding Floyd authenticity moving forward. You have found a great resource here.

Yes, given flat scans of good high res quality these would align perfectly.

Hi Alexander, are you getting your refund easily?

This will be interesting. A seller not known for issuing refunds along with a bad item with Beckett and Steve Grad hacking off on it. The seller gonna claim the fake bio of Steve Grad and day he’s the best. Plus who is going to produce an evidence letter for the refund?

Looking more likely that Iconic with an assist from Steve Grad and the Beckett crew ripped off another collector. It’s not like their online reviews could get any worse.

+1!!! to what Rick is saying!!!

What an absolute JOKE Beckett is.

i will NEVER purchase a Beckett certed item again.

I’ve never bought a Beckett certed item. I knew Steve was a joke his last bit at PSA. He was good once. Money got the better of him.

The things my friend who worked with him and Brian at Beckett just confirmed the things I already suspected. A shame what they have done in such a short period of time. He sees these threads. He knows what is being said.

Rick,

The friend you're referring to is Tony Varvel?

For those who don't know, Tony passed away in November. He was a friend of many here.

What did he say that confirmed things for you?

Steve, He told me they passed items even after discussing the items were bad. The items we spoke about at this time were Roger Waters and Michael Jackson signatures. They were for the same seller of this item here. Some of those signatures have popped up in here after they were authenticated and questioned. Said this happened all the time when it came to the big EBAY volume dealers they worked with. He even told them if these items popped on websites including this one not to reply to them and let them die quickly. Then this will be brushed off as a disgruntled collector or two.

Anytime something was questioned Steve would tell them they “need to see the bigger picture.” He supposedly said this a lot.

Ive posted some of the texts. I’ll go through and post some more that I got from him while he worked there. He found it amusing that Steve would have to send signatures to others by text and just put his name and stickers on their opinions as if it were his own and that he didn’t have a clue of many of them. Mike Trout especially. I have a few of the texts that show this.

Just look at some of Beckett’s authentications for these dealers. Seems a lot of what he had told me was right. Enough that I believed him. When he left and was working in Idaho I spoke to him regularly. Don’t let these Beckett guys fool anyone. He thought very poorly of them and thought they were sellouts only interested in making as much money as they can.

If these guys are cutting slack for just one high volume dealer and letting things like this slide when there is higher probability that the items are bad it brings into question their integrity. Like they have none. Any argument that they are good guys is hard for me to comprehend but I do value your opinion. I know Steve Grad’s reputation and I refuse to beat the Steve Grad drum because I lose my own credibility. There is nothing I write or say here that I wouldn’t say to him in person to his face.
