Based on the thoughtful advice and warnings of many members I decided to not frame the signed gatefold cover, but to have a box made for it instead...
I just got it back (finally!) from the bookbinder and show pictures of it here…as I think is a good alternative way for collectors to safely house their autographs (including LPs) and not expose them to UV and other light. It’s a clamshell box covered with a somewhat silky black cloth and having black leather labels with gilt lettering on recessed areas of the front and spine of the box.
The box will protect the item well and I think it displays nicely on a bookshelf or along with other albums. The cloth covering to the box and the leather label are both a bit darker and nicer than they appear in the photos. Also, the interior of the box is as roomy as it is to accommodate the LP gatefold cover after it is first placed in an archival clear sleeve (not shown).
Hi , I feel that you may like to know the history on your signed Sgt Pepper , this item was originally sold by Sotheby's in April 1988 London , the album sold on the block £900 .... John Entwistle of the Who sold his personal guitars at the same sale & so from there the seller I guess sold it to Tracks UK in 2002. It has appeared a few times for sale both privately & Tracks auction but failed to sell it due to the condition & spine wear tearing ! I think they have just acquired 1 more Pepper thus let this go as surplus to requirements on the books ? plus my guessing that its now been offered a few times over the last 17 years but failed to sell ! So entered this to HA on the basis of the last sale Garry had with one .
If any gaps from Sotheby's 1988 Jason? I think that's his name or Paul should be able to fill you in on the trail of this great item which only handful of original Sgt Peppers fully autographed are out there for sure as I followed this item from 1988 .
...having difficulty uploading images...and will try again later
another try
seems to work...
I'm not trying to be smart - really - but if you're logged in, you can see final prices, including the buyer's fee, for Heritage's items.
You asked what it sold for. My point was that it can be easily looked up.
That looks really great Trazom1 - very classy presentation and a very good solution to a potentially tricky problem.
I don't know what your place is like for dust but I would just be careful that the lovely cloth covering doesn't get exposed to much of it.
Was the album and sigs everything you expected ?? Any dissapointments with it?
