it's raining now in the Netherlands and have mine holiday but luckely also mine hobby, and that's framing autographed photo's of mine heroes like ''michael j fox''... i repair and spraypaint heavy frames and do the cutting of the cardboard myself...only the plaques are made by a local company. this two items i post now are made today ''have many more'' hope you like these. the photo's are size 14x11 so you have a idea what the total of the frames are. this hobby started when i saw framed autographs on ebay and thought i can do this myself because shipping costs to the netherlands are way to high and sometimes higher than the costs of the actual item.

Outside of actually finding the autograph itself, creating the matted display is my favorite part of the hobby. I'm not a professional matter by any means but I do enjoy doing it. Yours look terrific!
thank you joe, was hard in the beginning but now i know how to do it...many people who visit mine home sometimes don't know how to react and for me it's the best way of a compliment.i like what i ám doing and it must be perfect.
I enjoy matting as well. Although I am no where near perfect. I even like the "flaws".
Very nice presentation, Rob.
Agree with Joe one this one! Both when it comes to that yours look great Rob and that the matting part is really fun!
But unlike Joe, who makes his great matts himself, I can’t take much credit for my displays. All I do is make a rough sketch on a simple piece of paper where I draw the measurments and the placements of the autograph cuts and the photos I plan to use.
Then I send the design to a professional framer that cuts the matt/passepartout exactly like I want it! So it’s he who does most of the work based on my idea. Then I just put it all together at home and put the final result on my wall!
Here’s photos of my sketch and the final result:
i would use double matting and include a 1st class plaque on the item you posted, especialy when it comes with autographs of ''bono'' - mccartney- and mercury!.., but looks nice and cool.
Would love double matting and a nice plaque, but finding someone who does that in Sweden isn’t easy...
And I actually sometimes prefer the ”clean” look that a black matt with white openings gives, especially since all my 8x10 photos and albums has a basic matt in the same style and I want my whole displayed collection to look the same. Here’s some of it:
if you want i could help you with it...think shipping to sweden would not be a problem. the company who make the plaques for me is just a street away and can make the plaque any way you want.they have the collors gold and silver and the engraving is Always black. don't Always have the time but could make any cardboard the way you want...i only use 1st class cardboard and it must be perfect before i ship it.
I have created nameplates with high quality metallic finish paper using a printer. Does a nice job.
