Well this one takes the cake!!!  Check out eBay number 293405440643. It’s a US VJ Lp Introducing The Beatles signed in Austria in 1965 during the Help movie filming.  Only problem is the Lp is a bootleg copy that came out in the early 1970’s.  And the autographs are really bad!!!

Sellers first reply.

“Thank you for your message. I only deal with autographs, I don't know much about the LP types. I can't say which LP that is. Maybe the LP was exchanged. The label could also have been exchanged on the LP (you can clearly see it on Side 1). The label cover must be original in any case, or is there a complaint? The autographs are not so nice because they were signed with a charcoal pen (typically woman).
Thank you and king regards...”

Translation: Here are all the silly excuses I could come up with to get you off of my back. Now get lost. I’m selling it.

As far as I know, I own the only fully signed copy of this album.  There is a great website for determining which of the many legitimate pressings and uncountable forgeries there have been of this album.  http://rarebeatles.com/photospg/introvj.htm  If you click on the various entries, pictures of each one pop up. I found it invaluable in ascertaining the legitimacy of mine.

The next reply. After I told him everything was wrong with this Lp - the Record, the cover and the signatures. In his reply he indicates yes the record is a counterfeit but the cover is from 1964. Of course this cover is one of the really bad bootlegs from the 70’s!!! Reported twice to eBay nothing done yet.

From seller fabcollection

Thank you for your help. I asked an expert and you were right. It is a counterfeit. The cover, however, was made as early as 1964, the record probably in the '70s.

Thanks again for your attention and king regards...

He wrote in the Additional description, that the cover is almost certainly a counterfeit. What should Ebay do? Everything is described correctly. Whether autographs are authentic, is a another question. I think, 90% of all Beatles autographs are forgeries.

Everything is not described correctly he indicates the autographs are genuine and they most certainly are not!!!!

What a mess. Horrible stuff, indeed.

It just gets worse. This from the additional comments from the end of the sellers description.

“record an Cover = Counterfeit / Autographs are authentic.”

So this 1970 made bootleg was signed in 1965 and this seller indicates he knows Beatles autographs!!!

Where can I find out, when made this counterfeit? The seller says from a point in time 1964 and you say 1970.

See the website that I referenced in my post above.  It has a comprehensive history of all of the pressings of this album, and how to differentiate between legitimate and fake copies.

Michael the cover is really a secondary issue. The autographs are not genuine even if if they were on a legit cover.  The authentic Introducing The Beatles on VJ Records was issued in the early 1960’s.  The hoarde of counterfeit/bootleg copies of this record started to appear in the 1970’s. The cover in the auction is 100% from the 1970’s.  There were no counterfeits of this record until maybe 1969 and then into the 1970’s.  It is the most widely bootlegged of any Lp in the Beatles catalogue.

Gratefulphish a couple of posts above here has included a link to info on this Lp. Hope this clears it up for you.

Thanks, you never stop learning :-)
