Freereal signature by Bob dylan?
Hi group members, I have a few signed lps by Bob dylan coming from the estate of bert Parell/NY. Do you think it's the real signature of Bob Dylan?

Thank you, no, I have nothing. Just the word from the guy who sold them to me. I myself tried to find some connection on the internet between padell and dylan and couldn't find any. All that made me sure is I bought a few other signed lps from the guy, as he said from the padell estate as well, and they seem 100% authentic to me, like joni, csny, s&g.... So I trusted him, as to me it looks a lot like the signature on the budokan cover, which is about the same time. I was hoping to find a few people here who had similar signatures from the 80s that have proof to be real... I was too naive maybe... Thanks so much for your help!

I have a friend — a very big Dylan collector from France — who owns a legit 1978 autograph. I can’t share it with you here because it’s not mine to bandy around the Internet, but I do have a photo of it. It is much closer to the Budokan gatefold signature that you refer to than yours is. The capital B on yours is quite different, as is the D, and my friend’s autograph doesn’t trail away on the A and N the way yours does. And that gold pen … I really don’t like it for the period in which your signatures were supposedly obtained.
And, if Dylan did have a connection with Bert Padell, wouldn’t these signatures come with a dedication to him, rather than being flat signed?
As I said earlier, Dylan’s autograph is really hard to authenticate. Anyone here will tell you that. It’s a minefield.
I also own legit Joni Mitchell and Neil Young signed items, btw.

Hi Eric,
I had a feeling my example might pique your interest. No, neither piece is signed by David, but, as it wasn’t his work, it would have been strange if they had been.
Both are signed by Edward Bell, but they are proper works of art rather than collector’s items, so I don’t know that they fit the remit of this forum.
I don’t want to sidetrack this Dylan thread, so I’ll shoot you a PM with the details.

I sent them to Eric, to whom my comment was originally addressed. These artworks are only really of interest to keen Bowie collectors. They weren’t created or signed by David.

Hi Steve, those are fabulous items = working images for Tin Machine. I too like the magic carpet but I am partial to lot 94 - for me a direct relation to the final image and also signed on the Obverse. Of course its personal preference - the earlier idea is lovely - mixed media and its signature is in pen rather than pencil although on the Reverse. But of course - you have both. I can see why. Thank you for sharing them with me.

To me, they are two sides of the same coin; two sides of the same cover, even. They inform and enhance each other in tandem. Even the lot numbers are reverse images of each other. These two pieces were destined to remain together, and I couldn’t bear to see them split up.

Yes, indeed. I also noticed 49 and 94. Nice pendants, like Homer's East and West Point.
