Hi group members, I have a few signed lps by Bob dylan coming from the estate of bert Parell/NY. Do you think it's the real signature of Bob Dylan?

Best regards, Andy

I'm no expert, but this really doesn't look like something that was signed about 40 years ago ...

Thank you, EIPotaton, yes, maybe it was signed a little later... Early 80s the earliest. Yes, maybe it's a fake. Not good news. Best, Andy

You have a point... But then again, it might have been signed later, 1985 the earliest... But bobs signature from those days comes the closest to what I have...

Here is an example of an in-person Dylan autograph from 1984.  This one comes with excellent provenance from the collection of John Brennan.  It is very typical of Dylan’s IP autographs from the period:

And here you can see several examples from the mid-1980s of Dylan signing copies of the Biograph box set for promotional purposes.  These all look legit to me:

I can tell you are desperate to believe in the copy of Freewheelin’ that you’ve bought, but I’m quite certain you’ve been taken by an unscrupulous seller.  I’m not keen on the others you posted either.

Trust me, no one here takes pleasure in telling you these are fakes.  This forum is made up of many decent and knowledgeable individuals who would rather give good news than bad.  You can choose to believe what we’re telling you, or you can convince yourself otherwise.  I’m guessing you’re into this for a good deal of money, which makes accepting our collective word all the more difficult.  It’s a bitter pill to swallow, but we’ve all been there at some point, which is why we want to help stop others from making the same mistakes.

Yes, I know, I very much appreciate your help and opinion... Well, nothing I can do about it anymore, anyway...

Thanks for your opinion and detailed answer!

+1 to Steve.

All of these present way to fresh. No documentation...strange/atypical signatures. Is this material returnable?

No, I don't think I could give them back... Thanks for your opinion!

Hi Schindler !!! Can you post your Joni Mitchell & CSNY from the same source !!!!

Hi J. Seah... Now I'm scared you will tell me they all are fake.... Well, maybe I was naive... I really think they look real, the Dylans are the only lps I had second thoughts about... Ok, here they are, tell me your honest opinion... Best regards, Andy

Argh, I hate having conversations like this, but I really don’t like the Joni and Neil Young autographs I’m seeing here.

Joni’s signature has been really consistent down the years.  Here’s a legit one, from my collection.  It looks smoother and more girly, to my eyes, than yours:

Neil Young is a really difficult one.  His signature is a scrawl.  I own two legit examples, the latest of which was literally gifted to me this evening by a good friend who happens to be one of the world’s biggest Young collectors.  Again, I’m not convinced by yours in comparison.  Here are my two:
