The Dooley Wilson signature on blue paper is in my collection.  However, when compared to likely authentic signatures in the RR Auction archive like the one shown on top of the blue paper, there are several significant differences (e.g., shape of "D", angle of writing, height of "l", open versus closed "o's", etc.).  I suspect the signature on the blue paper is not authentic but would appreciate other opinions before I completely write if off.  Thank you as always.

bump - Any opinions are appreciated.  Thank you.

bump - Doubtful but hopeful.  Thanks for taking a look.

beardog - I'm afraid you are correct.  The blue sheet doesn't look quite right.  The "D" is atypical and the shape of the "l"s look like they have been switched.  A nitpick, but Dooley that I've seen usually had a taller "l" in his first name and a more squat and fatter "l" in his surname.  Agree about the "o"s as well.

I just don't see a fluidity in the blue example.

Thank you, Etienne.  Although I am disappointed, I feel better having my conclusion this was not authentic confirmed by someone with more experience.  I continue to learn from members like you in this forum.  Thank you for sharing your experience, knowledge and opinions.

You're welcome, beardog.  You actually seem to have a good eye as well for nuances in handwriting.  I know it's disappointing but if it's any consolation we have all been there!

Thank you, Etienne.  I have learned a lot from members on this forum including tips and tricks for comparing signatures, considering context of what was signed, etc.  I am in awe of those who know specific signatures so well that they can specify a date for an authentic signature or name a secretary of forger if not authentic.  I so appreciate members like you who take the time to help all of us enjoy this hobby and perhaps even get a little better at it.
