I just placed an order, do you think this will actually workout??
Placed an order, much appreciated J Buke. After my Book Depository order was cancelled twice I thought my options had dried up.
They're going to contact me with shipping charges, hopefully not too much to get it shipped to Japan!
I got luck again. Last time I got none. This time I got 4. So I’m please with that. I figure they will make nice trades than.
I got to my San Diego Barnes & Noble an hour and a half before they opened (my wife is from New Jersey, so she was gung ho about doing this). One woman had gotten there 30 minutes before us. Guess what? They only got ONE FRIGGIN COPY!!!!! She got it. I was so pissed. The manager then made calls. Found another B&N 30 minutes away that had 3 copies. She used to manage that store, and insisted they hold one for me. I got that, and the other two hadn't sold. Had my friend drive up (in the pooring rain) to snag a copy. He got there too late, and they had sold. At least I got one!!!! But what a bizarre thing, that stores only got one copy to sell, or others had 3. Very lame. How does that promotion benefit anyone, or generate interest for the book?
On black Friday my store only had one Natalie Portman, and others on here mentioned getting 2 or 3. Not sure how they allocate these things. My town is maybe the 2nd or 3rd biggest in my state... but there's only one Barnes and Noble within about 1.5 hr drive, so it would make sense for them to get more since it's too far to drive to the next one. Not sure how they decide who gets what. I didn't check my store on these though since I still have Amazon order that will probably be cancelled.
Oh, and get this. My wife drove to four different B&N locations. All of them had there one copy sold out (one place had 3, they all sold out). One location told her "A guy was here an hour early, so we opened the door, sold it to him, and...we weren't even open for another hour).
So, we feel very lucky that we even got one.
Its funny, there are indies who got 10+ plus copies. Some booksellers seem to think there will be more coming, although I highly doubt that.
Im very interested in how shops secure copies, bc it seems like a healthy amount of them procure from the same source?
I would assume it comes down to politics, relationships, money, and hustle - like everything else.
And lastly, the book title "Renegades" is so goofy, as both these folks are the farthest things from a "renegade"
That is funny... never thought about that, but that's very true... The definition of renegade is the exact opposite of either of them. Maybe the rockstar could be considered a renegade (a person who behaves in a rebelliously unconventional manner) but not any establishment politician... and if you go by this definition, "a person who deserts and betrays an organization, country, or set of principles." Obama would be talking bad about himself to call himself a renegade... although maybe if you ask half the country they would agree with that. Lol
and the GOOD NEWS is that from the examples I am seeing on ebay, these books are authentic and hand signed, not autopen. The autographs are very high quality. Congratulations to everyone who scored a book
I decided to do a Box Break for the book and put in on Youtube.
